I preferred a "dead" server

So, I did a bit of looking under the character transfer FAQ and found this for anyone interested:

Quote:
Can I transfer my character to any server I wish?
Not as part of the initial Character Transfer Service. By encouraging players to transfer characters to and from specified servers, we hope to ensure balanced server populations across the service. Eligible servers will be listed as they become available for transfers at www.swtor.com/transfer. Characters on a specific group of origin servers will only be able to transfer to specific individual destination servers.
I didn't remember specifiically, but I did not believe that I had a choice of where to send my characters.
I was right. It was chosen for me. So, my characters are stuck, for now.

Any that I create in the future will be on a RP server.

I didn't see that there were RP servers, but I'll see about transferring characters to those servers. I'm sure I'll do much better standing around for 10 seconds, applying my buffs and such there. Lord forbid I actually use things provided in the game, like buffing abilities, stims, and such. I don't know what I was thinking there.. Lord help us all if I were to actually try to rearrange my quickbar before a battle to make things flow better in combat. That might crash the game for all the NASCAR players. How rude of me.

The trolls, well, you're quite obviously the kinds of players who create the situation that brings me to create this thread.
Have fun playing keyboard commando from your peanut butter castles in Mommie's basement. It takes real courage to troll on message boards. You should be proud.
While we disagree completely and I find your complaints inane, and I am sure you think I am a jerk for saying that, NICE Benchwarmers reference.

Even though you seem to think anyone who doesn't agree with you is a troll, in my experience the RP servers are no different than the non-RP servers. I /ignored many more people while leveling up on RP than my original non-RP.

And then theres the "why only 1 server" issue. i have charactors on 4 servers tagged to transfer....all to the same server! 1. they all wont fit. 2. why do i not get a couple of choices? If i end up in a Sardie can server (god i love that name) may be time to move on til they give us more options.
proud to be a Cranky ole fart!

The real problem here is that the majority wants a populated server experience.

The few prefer a solo gaming experience, but obviously Bioware will create a populated server experience first and foremost to please the large majority.

I think that patience will be a virtue here. I imagine Bioware will keep tweaking population until things are more stable and pleasing.

Population issues were a problem in WoW until they merged instance and battleground across servers... if at some point Bioware decides to do that, I imagine they'll allow the servers to spread out some. They'll probably also reduce the player-per-instance limit to solve the complaint quite a few people have: too many people in one zone.

I've never heard anyone complain about too many in one zone

and there are several games out there to enjoy if you want to play by yourself... not telling you to leave, it just seems odd to buy and pay for a MMO and not want to play with others.

Do you use the galactic market? because you need a good server population to make use of it.

If you're not a social player, you might just want to play KOTOR. This is an MMO, after all.

Here's a thought, maybe when they merge together servers they'll only have about 20 or so servers each with medium population so you can finally quit your endless whining about this, or they'll just massively up respawn timers or they'll add more world instances, good freaking Christ you people are NEVER HAPPY, I remember the three million threads of "SERVER TRANSFERS NAOW OR I QUIT" now its "OMG I LIKE MAH DEAD SERVER DON'T MERGE ME OR I QUIT".

CLEARLY server merging desires FAR OUTWEIGHED those wanting a dead server to play on, maybe you liked it I didn't, oh it was so much "fun" trying to find a group for a daily heroic and it took an hour because there were maybe two other people on the planet.

Seriously folks, server merges are coming whether you like it or not, making the 30,000th thread about how you prefer your dead server isn't going to change it, might as well get used to it because the server merges were clearly what the majority wanted, well that's what the majority is getting now whether you like it or not.

I have played most of the major MMORPGs out there and been in some of the biggest guilds and I do love the social aspect of games.

However, I just recently came back to SWTOR and my current server is dead, I have played for the last week and I have not met a soul, havent even seen one in the passing.

I rolled a new character and have levelled her to lvl30 in the past couple of days and I have to say I am enjoying the game immensly, I have enjoyed the story and freedom, albeit getting a little lonely so I decided to use the free transfer. After the transfer completed I logged back on, played for 2 hours and well gave up, my reasons.

1) Overcrowding of areas. Ok its an MMO and I am used to it, went to another mission / area unfortuantly its just the same, so using patience I waited and yes I did complete my missions, just not at my pace that I was used to over the past few days.

2) Lag!!! Ok, again this may be down to my PC and I may have to lower settings to deal with the larger player base, again I have had no lag whatsoever over the past few days on my dead server.

3) Invites!! This really got on my nerves and nope I havent checked yet to see if I can disable the pop up, but over the space of 2 hours I ended up with 132 grouping invites, thats around 1 invite a minute and that just completly destroyed my gaming experience, One person invited me 18 times until I had to tell he / she to stop, like the decline the first few times didnt tell them I wasnt interested.

So, although I know its an MMO, I can see the OPs point. The only reason I have noticed is I came back to a dead server, if I came back to a populated server then I probably wouldnt have noticed the above issues as I would probably be in a guild after the first day and grouped for most of my game time. I ENJOY group play, I love being in a guild, I enjoy the banter with guildies, but I have to say playing on a dead server has been a breath of fresh air and I can honestly say I think I have seen more of the game as to when I first played this game. Also sparked my love for playing RPG games again aswell.

If we are really honest, SWTOR is still a single player RPG with an MMO spin on it, Its a good story driven RPG. I have played both KOTOR 1 and 2 and this could easily be 3.

So my point is I do see where the OP is coming from.

This is especially annoying in areas like Blackhole on Corellia where I'm trying to get my dailies in. Honestly, I'm not a sociable player. I don't want to team up with a bunch of power gamers who like to blow through the baddies and get the boss beaten in record time. I like to enjoy the content of the doggone game. I like to think of it as reading a book, with pictures.

Well, enough of my complaining. Can I get my characters back on the Dead server where I was quite happy?
Chests and Mission Items can now be clicked while in combat... drive in, click on the item you need, then kill everything. Nothing that the objective/chest ninjas can do to you then.
