WoW started with 250,000 subscribers when it launched and it took over a year to cross the 1m threshhold. Star Wars even at its current level is 3x that.

No I don't think this is a failure at all.
You do realize that your numbers steadily increase while SWTOR's numbers Dramatically decrease, right? Also, if you think SWTOR has 3x 250k subscribers, I have a beautiful lake house to sell you in Manhattan. Open your eyes fanboy.

Why are you here then? If you dislike the game so much and want it to fail then leave and go play another game.

Oh and btw, you're right if the game has 1.3 million subs as EA said, then its 5x, not 3x. Thanks for noticing that.

Canwe get a link to MMOGData please.

Also look at the direction. As I said before they started at 250k and after a year was 750K (the graph I though I saw before had it over 2 million after 6 months but I could be wrong. Then it just keeps getting more and more players.

SWTOR started at over 2 million (Bioware actually states indirectly it was 2.8 million) and has just lost more and more people each month. the first month was over 300k to 1.1 million then 400k for the next 3 months and from the looks of the servers its even worse this next 3 months.

They have not once shown an increase in subs from launch.
If this game is so great then why do so many people that love the game spend all their time in the forums?

It's always just vague nonsense never concrete details and until the community can start to give concrete and specific problems, and REASONS those individual things ARE problems, how can you expect BW to change anything?

Oh, and as far as this game being an exact copy of WoW? BS. As someone who played wow from launch through Cata, this game is MORE unlike WoW than every AAA mmo to release since WoW launched.
You want to know how i want this game to be? Fine, i'll tell you, but prepare for a Wall of Text.

I want a gameplay where stats are something that you allocate manually each level. You get X points and distributes them between Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma. Equipment should add a bonus to your stats, but not more then 10-15% of the total amount.

I want huge planets! I want to fly out over Tatooines deserts for hours and feel like i'm truely lost, and at the same time it would create a need for really fast speeders then the crap we have now. I was racing my speeder against someone level 20-something before he got a speeder and the speed difference was just so painfully small! It never felt like i was on a speeder, but more like a Segway.

I want free flight. When i leave a planet i want two options; One is to pull up the Galaxy Map as usual, punch in the destination and away we go. The other is to go explorer in freeflight mode. Find new starsystems (Created via a Random System Generator or something) and sometimes theres a small sidequest, sometimes theres just a nice view and other times there are nothing at all. I want to be able to gather a bunch of friends and travel in free flight to the Republic Fleet and try to beat all the republic players and their NPC defences and getting my ***** handed to me (There should be a Safe Area around the main station in the fleet, where players exiting the fleet can jump to hyperspace and avoid the attackers, but with a battle countdown, so you couldn't abuse it during dogfights).

I want a system where you have Heroic Classes like the classes we have now. You should be limited like we are today in that you would only be able to create 9 (See below for reason to 9) Heroic Class Characters and, as a new limitation, only one of each class. On the side of that, i want a Standard Class system, where you create a pilot, farmer, crafter, weaver or something small in the galaxy-wise. These Standard Classes shouldn't be limited in the same way as Heroic Classes and should in a small chance be able to, when reaching max level in his or her crafting skill, start a Heroic Class. During the Heroic Class leveing the crafting skills are locked away, but the character retains them again when the Heroic Class reaches max level. Then that character would become a Heroic Crafter and create exceptional equipment, with his or her name on it.

I want ALL equipment to be a shell for apperance and then mods to add bonus stats. I never want to have to wear an ugly piece of equipment, simply because the stats are better.

I want player housing. If we get those huge and vast planets, like Tatooine, we should be able to fill it up with player houses. Appartments should be available for rent in Dromund Kaas and Corusant. There should be social hubs on all planets, but the biggest should be in each factions main planet.

I want a third faction! I want Smugglers and Bounty Hunters to team up with a new Mercenary Class and make a new Hutt Faction (Or something like that) So that each faction has Three Heroic Classes (Refer above for Heroic Class)

I want to be rid of the cursed "Bind-on-Pickup/Equip/Account" hell! I want to be able to trade my equips freely after having tried them out and seen the design. With the Companion system everyone can "Need" on any piece of equipment anyway.

I want a new Companion system, where you have three Sets of skills for each companion Tank, DPS or Healer. I don't want to have my Healer out, when i'm romancing my DPS Apprentice! I want my Romanced Healer Apprentice out ALL. THE. TIME!!

There you go! THIS is what i want.

It still boggles me that an MMO which retained well over a million subs over a 6 month period is considered a failure.

The only substantiated claims of SWTOR's cost say it was $200 million. Even if those numbers a fudged somewhat, you can't hide $300 million dollars; thats like hiding three GTA IV level projects.

Still, even EA themselves claimed that they only break even at 500,000 subs which is far to high and shows that the money spent was rather reckless even with LA getting a massive take from the sales. In any case, the game still has well over 500,000 subs.

People need to remember that WoW is an anomaly. MMO's are still a niche genre, and getting people to spend $15 a month is a much higher ask than just forking out $60 at launch. Especially in a market where F2P is so prolific.

Do you honestly believe this game still has 1.3 million subs? The data is out there just by looking at the servers. We are about the 6 month mark where subs run out after the free 2 months. Alot of people bought 6 month subs.

I mean, you can argue all day about the initial subs beating WoWs initial... That is all moot and means nothing. ToR subs are dropping at a fast rate. Without those subs, you dont have a game. The difference between when WoW launched and when Star Wars launched... noone knew about MMOs back then except "geeks". Eq1 was the top MMO back then and it peaked at 500k subs.... about what ToR has now.

Maybe some kool quests that require a group to travel on only one persons ship to a destination and while traveling there some Imperial ships attack and my group mates man the turrets.

Pod racing, open world PvP areas that are there for a limited time and reward those who fought there etc.
This! This would be great! Along with som of the other suggestions for minigames would be welcome distractions to the game.

eh, they blew it with this game. They had years to make their OWN game. Instead we got a WoW in space clone. I so wanted this game to do well, but these devs still think that people will eat up whatever they put out.

From the endless grinding for the next tier of meh-ness to the restrictions on medpacks to the nerfing of abilitites for one part of the game to having to reallocate skill points, this game has turned into a flaming hot mess.

And this guy blames the fans. like the fans coded this thing.

It shows me how clueless they are, because from where I sit, these devs have not listened to hardly anything. Which is why the test server forum keeps getting wiped, so you can't call them on their blunders.

It's a long way back to Grandville, but these wonderful devs keep updating my GPS...
