Well I don't really consider adding a group finder to be a "major patch", but to each their own.

Maybe we will get some new, something that is actually hard, content by January. Maybe.

I don't get that either. TOR had its shot, missed, but its not like its being shut down tomorrow. WAR is still around, is still pay-to-play, and it crashed a lot harder than TOR has. If you are having fun then you are having fun. when it stops being fun, leave. Until then, don't.

You mean that patch that introduced things that should've been in at launch?

Based on: the decreasing amount of subs, sure my server has relatively high pop, but that doesn't mean I'll blindly keep paying for something that others might get for free tomorrow, on the layoffs and EA's contradicting claim that they'll produce the same top quality content more frequently - what, are they gonna make those they have left work twice as hard or something?- on, again, BW and EA refusing to enlighten us, and the way they're treating the community, announce-ignore-ignore-ignore-throw us a bone and expect us to be happy forever. It was said in the video, they're trying so hard to get new players to join, they're not paying attention to keeping current players around.

Even if a portion of that goes to Lucasarts for the IP, and some to EA, theres not a company in the world who would sneeze at that. Profit is profit, and so long as there is still profit, the game isn't going amywhere.

Plus they've already made back the cost of the game.....so no one has actually lost money....
I'm sorry but how can you determine the profit from that?

That's your approximate subscriber count. I bet it's going to come up near 350,000.

It could be off by 20% so call it 280,000-420,000. It's simply not feasible for it to be a million or anything close to it.
Industry standard is generally accepted as about 10% of total server pop is on during prime time; so double your numbers.

They said they needed 500,000 subscriptions to be profitable. Based on that statement, we can safely assume that 350,000 is not profitable and they will make (possibly drastic) changes.

I like this game. I want it to get better. I want to keep playing it. But I'm concerned given EA's track record that they're about to destroy much of what I like about this game and implement a whole lot of stuff I don't like.

I suppose it's just a game and I can move on if they do that. I love MMOs but fantasy MMOs are meh. Nothing good sci-fi on the horizon.

No good options unless EA surprises the s**t out of me.

WAR has been in maintance mode for years though.

The only new content it EVER got (after release) was a few classes that should have been in at launch and LOTD, and LOTD was actually 90% finished before release.

If SWTOR followed WAR, then basically what we have now is ALL we'll ever have........... really SWTOR does NOT want to end up like WAR>
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

I guess 350k seems plausible. If it were 1,000,000, that would be about 8,000 per server primetime and we know that's not where we are.

Wow. 1.7 million boxes sold in the first month or two and 350,000 subscribers now. 80% of the people who bought the game thought little enough of it to not be subscribing 6 months later.
Shame for you that the destination servers are hitting circa 3.5K at prime time then. Plus the people still sitting on the origin servers. Finally, the usual assumption made for MMORPGs is that about 10% people are playing at prime time.

I have to agree with you, I am huge fan of the game, but I am not a rabid or blind fanboi, I have seen this going downhill for along time.
But on the other hand we can't take everything those guys say as 100% rock solid info, there is allot of speculation going on as well.

My question is why does EA/Bioware allow these rumors and speculation threads to grow in the forums, where is thier damage control putting out fires and telling us not to pay these threads any mind. I remember the days of SOE when Thunderheart used to come in and tell us this is all specualtion not happening and close the threads.

Seems like letting the threads linger in the forums, validates allot of the information in some folks minds, they slowly become truth to allot of people. /shrug just a thought...
Do not dwell in the past, do not not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Expectations lead to suffering

Right, so I took the time to watch the video the OP posted which seemed to be a "source"

It was not.

The OP has no sources to support what are quite frankly damaging allegations. I personally think that is irresponsible to the future of the game.

I think it is worth noting at 49 minutes into the video they joke about avoiding the official forums because of the "trash" found there (I am quoting the source, they say "trash")

I'm not sure why the OP would type what he has typed
