The developers said it would not be as in depth as SWG, but would be better than WoW's is. And when you watched the videos of it before launch it certainly looked that way. But afterwards, you found out that was a joke. If anything WoW's is better.

Another example would be your choices would make a dynamic difference in your game world in TOR. Another one which in reality it made no difference at all in the outcome of the char's story. Only in light side and dark side points and companion relationships. And really...what benefit is there to be Light or Dark sided in alignment? I mean you can even turn off the Sith corruption.
Many of those who followed the game for years have left for reasons the game did not turn out as it was advertised.
One thing I will give credit to Arena Net is...they are pretty upfront with the features of GW2.

Have you ever played a BW game before because I knew exactly how this game was going to be but of course I wasn't following every word, and remember this, THE PR DEPARTMENT, said the game was going to be. PR in its nature is about embellishing the truth and when you realise that then you'll enjoy games much more because you expectations will not be as high.

MORAL do not ever follow a games development closely as things will never be as good as you think and they help you think it will be. Just watch the devastation thats going to follow GW2's launch.

That actually gives them more of a reason to implement it in the future.
yes, thats what the cash shops are ... cosmetic and fluff items. Thats all it will ever be. There is nothing wrong with that IMO. Im sure there will be the standard extra character slots , extra bank space, server transfers and things of that sort as well. Nothing wrong with any of that. The game has to make money somewhere. Considering that you can play the entire game on just buying the box and never touching the cash shop... thats a pretty fantastic bargin.

The point was that you wont be paying to win ... like buying the sword of eternal truth or whatever the hell it was called... so to speak. Many people sit here and say its a pay to win shop and that ... it will never be.

The game is fantastic the first time through. Maybe the second time time through with opposite faction. Although, some planets were still a horrid experience and I just wanted to **** them. Outside of that... rerolling is lowsy endgame when 90% of the content is the exact same. Its no different then doing dailies really... Its still doing the same quests over and over ad nausium.

What the game needs is events like the rakgoul plague more often. It needs other things to do like mini games, housing with decoration, dynamic events like rift and gw2. For the love of all thats holy faster content updates that have actual content in them. If they would have had those things then this game would definately be a win. The biggest problem is there is no side attraction. Real space game... that would be huge.

Yeah, duh, of course. The point is you dont need to use the cash shop for anything to enjoy the game. Its the best non subscription model out there for the consumer. Most p2p games would charge for simple content updates like dungeons/raids/questlines. Most p2p games charge for specific classes or races. Whats your problem with having a cash shop that has vanity/fluff/cosmetic stuff on it? How is that a bad thing?

This. And I hope the F2P crowd join them.
Thats a sad hope. Its those players that help pay the bills for BW. The less of them there are... the less developed content you will recieve.

Actually there are 10. You also have a huge selection of skills to choose from. So your build counts in the skill department. Combat is reactive. You need to watch what the player or npc is doing and try to actually dodge and avoid the attacks. You are held more accountable for your self. Although I prefer trinity roles... later game combat in GW2 is actually pretty skillful ... even with only "5 buttons"

The GW2 combat is extremply dinamic, skills cool downs are fast and you can run and dodge while use skills (there is not general cool down)
5 combat skills and 5 support skills are more than enought, the key is know your class and choose the skills that best suits you to your play styles (PvP) or to the enviroment (PvE).
Have 48 skills, of which you will use barely 10, is simply dumb and against gameplay, specilly when you've got to watch for general cool downs because you've got to wait for your character perfom an animation.

Meh, I think the two games are very different and which you like (or dislike) is a matter of personal preference more than a matter of "OMG ___ is way better than ____!" Obviously, people posting on the official TOR forums are more likely to be TOR fans. xD

I am really looking forward to GW2 -- the game is just gorgeous, the character creation is wonderful, the gear/aesthetics are great, and I really enjoy the way dynamic events work. Though I miss the cutscenes and immersive story from TOR.

I also have fun playing TOR right now! But I like it for different reasons. The story is very entertaining and the cutscenes/voiceovers are just amazing, plus it is, y'know, Star Wars. Though I miss the good aesthetic sense and ease of customizing my character from GW2.

So, I will play both, at least for awhile.

You buy karma point as well. I don't know much about the karma system but I believe it's used to progress in the game. As in getting gear.
