There is no game I'm aware of where the vast majority of players don't have multiple characters.

But feel free to believe whatever gets you out of bed in the morning.
Having multiple characters is one thing, but it doesn't make you an altoholic by default simply because you leveled more than one character, or are leveling more than one character. Having an interest in playing two or more classes doesn't really mean you're an altoholic, it just means you like more than one thing.

People that have more than one character may make up the majority, an altoholic is someone who may or may not even have a character at level cap, and if they do, they're far too busy with leveling all of their characters to even consider progressing a character at end game in any capacity. If they hit level cap, they immediately drop the character to make and level another one, because all they have interest in is leveling and creating more characters.

That is an altoholic, I had four level 85s in WoW, but that wasn't because my focus was on leveling or having a stable full of characters, it was because I liked those four classes and wanted to experience them in *meaningful* content.

Your definition of an altoholic is basically any person that has more than one character, period, which is fairly inaccurate, to say the least.

So you can solo content a bit more easily? I don't find those benefits to be big at all considering they are completely restricted to solo play, they have no impact whatsoever on the MMO aspects of this game.

GW2 is an entirely different game. It is PVP first. It does PVP really well.

PVErs pretty much hate it because it is their worst fear personified.

It will absolutely hurt SWTOR just not as much as if it were a really good PVE game.

Thats great for a solo player. However for someone who primarily groups... those are lackluster, rarely used features. Once you are at the point of having raid gear and nothing to do but dailies... those things mean nothing.

I'm in GW2 beta aswell.

What is awesome in GW2.
PvP is not based on gear but skills.
Very immersive game with beautiful background music.
Very large and cool world bosses.
10 000 times better character creator then SWTOR.

What is not good about GW2.
No Raids(they clain higher up dungeons is hard but give me a break.)
No trinity. Everyone can heal DPS Tank boooring(some like this but still fail to most veteran MMO players)
The world PvP is great on the shard were people have to travel to pvp,but there is no world PvP on your server.
No dualing.
Fantasy game, done to death.
Greedy MT system, like we have seen with the dye system that is only the start.

Have you read these forums? PVErs in this game, just like those in WOW or RIFT are mostly horrified at the concept of fighting something that is not an AI.

Remember the outrage with the PVP flagging on PVE servers? Yea, its still ongoing.

With the way people talk about GW2 and some seriously crazy fanboy shenanigans going on, you'd think it was the second coming of Jesus and after playing I honestly thought I'd probably unsub to this game and never pick it up again.

However, after a good five hours playtime, I'm already missing SWTOR. Granted GW2 actually feels like a more modern MMO, their stories for the races are absolutely woeful in comparison to SWTOR. Okay do you want to go into some cave and recover some medicine from some bandits or do you want to infiltrate a notorious crime lord's gang and carefully plant the seeds of doubt in their mind and force them to your side? And don't even get me started on the fact you face some guy three freaking times and each time you worry about what's going to happen.. WHY CANT I KILL HIM???

Still, this aside, I do love the world quests where you can just join in and random events plus the WvW pvp is a LOT of fun and what Illum should have aspired to be.

Regardless, after playing the second coming of Jesus, I've came out of it appreciating SWTOR a lot more and what it actually offers.
Whatever man everyone has their own thing and for the most part another game forum is not the place to form an opinion of a different game. People have different tastes and it seems like you WoW types cant get over that,, Example: I think EVE is one the greatest MMO's ever made and will always play it off and on while i think WoW it total garbage, I never fully liked ToR since beta actually but its Star Wars and i do love that IP and do enjoy the lore and world and unfortunately outside of lightsabers and a few other things this game looks nothing like Star Wars imo, The end game Armors look like Gundams, Transformers, Garbage cans or just plain stupid ugly, and Yay same faction PVP ..... well the list goes on and on, Imo this is nothing about living or playing in a Star Wars Universe its just another run of the mill MMO with shiny gear grinds and people chasing carrots, just one more WoW formula type of clone that will fail like all the others.

You or I or anyone cant say that GW2 will fail or succeed the game will launch and whatever happens just happens, and despite whatever you say I and many, and do mean many other people are going to give it a run. Tbh I hated SWG the first time i played and didn't really get into it but a few months later i got an itch for it and went back and ended up loving that games pre CU version, Didn't like EVE much either but something grabbed me and I slowly got into it and have been playing for about 7 years now. On the other end I loved ToRs Quests and stories at first then they announced the PVP stat during beta and was going to bail like many other people did but i said ill just play the stories and treat it like a single player game with lobbies and move on. 6 months later I space bar everything and pretty much hate the quest system and since i never made a 50 in beta I didn't know how much the end game sucked, and sure there was posts just like yours about how bad the end game was but I had to see it for myself, and imo it does suck but whatever its just not my thing.

So whatever man if you think 5 hours is enough time to come to your conclusion well thats on you, I personally found GW2 to be very lame at the start but just like EVE something grabs me and I am attracted to it and the more i learn about the game the more I like it.. For me its all about the nuances, SWG had day night cycles, weather,100% free open range with now yellow brick roads and about a million other things crafting, economy ect. EVE is just amazing lore with graphics to die for, huge and complex it feels like a living breathing universe these things are very have a ton of immersion for me and others and GW2 is hitting pretty close to that mark from what Ive played, Tor on the other hand is static yellow brick road, practically zero immersion factor its just a series of mini games with shiny crap to grind for, but the stories did have a niche play for a while and that did score some immersion points for a bit. like i said everyone is different and some of you type of people may just love that kind of game.. I am not one of them!

You are one of the few.

Most dont like it. Most have cancelled and declared the game a failure. It has received horrible reviews and at this point the only interest in the game for most is a morbid one.

I dont have to say it
Horrible reviews? Where???
Even mmorpg which HATES swtor gave it 8.7/10
IGN 9/10
G4TV 5/5
Gamespot 8/10
Gamespy 4/5
Eurogamer 8/10
etc etc etc...

those were good or excellent reviews. Horrible is 5-6/10

It amazes me how the internet community created a notion that SWTOR is bad and dying (or already dead) and afterward believed this notion, with evidence of the opposite. Droping numbers of subscription after a phenomenal launch was imho to be expected (not wished for, but expected). Sub numbers will stabilize, and maybe grow at some point, but I'm confident it will stay in the top 5 subscription based mmo's for a long, long time.
Sadly, we will never know how GW2 fares a few months after launch because of the f2p model. But I can tell you it WILL go through the same cycle SWTOR is going through now. Never again will a game launch and grow and grow and grow like WoW did. WoW was an anomaly, and it will never, ever be like that again. Even Diablo 2 did'nt achieve that.

Oh, and to the point of this thread: same feeling concerning GW2 for me. Can't play it for more than an hour top without getting an uneasy feeling. The questing hubs bore me, doing stuff until your bar fills up bores me... I agree I'm more a PvE'er than a PvP'er, and I hope the PvP community enjoys GW2 when it launches. But... I was expecting more or GW2. The feeling I get when playing it is NOTHING compared to the feeling I got when I first played SWTOR's beta...
If your thread title is not a variation on "open letter... BIOWARE,... fail... NOW!", then you are a fanboy

I was not arguing that good reviews predict a successful future for a game.
I was reminding Blavastsy that SWTOR did NOT get horrible reviews.
