Shien was/is an RP server...I was not flagged for PVP...the fight with the rist guy took place well off the road so this turd was probably following me, waited for a fight knowing as a Sin I would use an aoe attack them jumped in...what a pos....

I would like to see them make a PvE server with no pvp options at all. They have pure PvP servers why not a pure PvE server?

I'd go further than this. Nothing should turn on the PVP flag except manually turning it on or entering a designated PVP zone. Any action from a non-flagged player on a flagged one, direct or indirect, should simply fizzle with 'invalid target' - no heals, buffs, attacks, whatever. If you want to attack that yellow name you must flag first, then attack. Or you want to buff or heal a teammate who is flagged, either they drop their flag or you have to manually turn yours on.

Some thought would need to be put into this. Take the BH scenario, do you force somebody to deflag before you do EoT or Shadows with them, or do they force you to flag and then have to wait 5 mins after you have finished. My preference would be that once inside an instance like that the toggle to deflag oneself from PvP works as if you were in an Imperial/Republic zone.

Well the current situation is that you get flagged if you heal them or apply a direct buff.

I suppose you could make a special case for instances, where there will be no other players anyway, and have it just ignore the PVP flag completely - heals and buffs go through and you would not get flagged. This would also work for flashpoints and operations. The problem is that it could not work for open world content - world bosses, heroics, even teaming for regular missions.

In the open world it would be grossly unbalanced to have a flagged player healed by an unflagged one, which is why I suggested that such actions would fizzle instead of auto flagging.

I play on The Harbinger and have stopped doing dalies because of this kind of behavior. In fact I've pretty much stopped playing my level 50's altogether and have just been leveling alts. Sadly, I see the end of my time on SWTOR coming soon, as I'm not interested in dealing with this kind of thing at all.

On a PvE server, If I set myself as not flagged for PvP, this should be a definite NO PvP setting.. meaning I nor my companion can damage other players and they can't attack me or my companions. If I have this flag set off, I should not be able to be flagged under any circumstances (on a PvE server).

I gave up on the Rakghoul event because of the same behavior.

Grinding dailies sucks bad enough without having to deal with this kind of crap.

I understand exactly what you're saying. I still do those dailies once in a while if I'm in a full guild group, therefore noone with a companion out, but doing them solo without a comp? Not an option for a heal spec'd toon (actually it could be done, but way too much of a pain...my T1/T2 equipped Risha knocks stuff down quickly lol). If I need money from dailies, it's Ilum and Belsavis for me...not as many roving bands...though I'm getting mighty tired of those lol. I too spend alot of time on the alts of late.

No you are wrong, Jedi Covenant is a PvE server so in either of those cases, or when entering Black Hole you are not flagged for PvP unless a) You flag yourself willingly or b) Someone forces you to flag for PvP by using an exploit.

What the OP describes comes under option b)

Edit - as others have pointed out.

Eh, AoEs should NOT work on other players if the caster is not flagged for PvP. Thats Biowares fault. But what the OP describes is his bad, he was flagged for PvP like the other people in the area so theyre all fair game.
