No, it spawns out of people being d-bags. There's things to do if you're so inclined. using exploits to grief others is never acceptable.

You should be able to avoid this by not having your companion on auto-attack and manually sending him to attack mobs, AoE off of course.

And you shouldn't HAVE too. Why do we have to limit our game play and adjust our tactics because BW coded this Poorly? It's what I do now and I don't like the fact that I HAVE to do it now because of some juvenile "bad" who doesn't have the stones to PvP on a PvP server.

This is about:

1.) Poor Coding
2.) Bad Customer Service.
3.) Bad Communication.
4.) SICK TOOLS that get their jollies griefing (and suck at real PvP since they don't PvP on PvP servers).

So BW are you going to finally fix this chiz?

Really, what they should do is that outside of specific pvp areas, you can only flag on pvp if you either turn it on manually or actively target another faction with an attack.

No AOES, or buffs, should toggle it on.

Well said. However, on #1, i would say it is impossible to figure out all the permutations of the "griefing crowd" may come up with. But #2 & #3 are extremely important. Unfortunately, BW customer service (my multiple personal experiences since launch) is extremely poor. It almost seems that EA decided not to spend any money on customer service to cut costs.

I thought Bioware fixed this already. Why is it that 80% of the time Bioware says they fixed something, they really didnt?

Using abilities with indirect targeting (such as area of effect abilities) will no longer cause players to be flagged for PvP if a PvP-flagged player from the opposing faction is within the ability's range, and the ability will have no effect on the PvP-flagged player.
You know, there are hundreds of thousands of amazing programmers out there who'd kill for a job in gaming, whose entire reason they picked the career is to make games. Who risk everything getting scammed into huge student loans by schools like Full Sail, just because they dream of working for companies like you ... yet you hire these monkeys who cant get anything right. Unbelievable.

In direct response to the OP:

I believe that myself and my guildies were responsible for this particular incident.

We had an ops group that was planning on raiding until we heard news in general chat that there was some open world pvp occurring on the Black Hole. As a group we went over to participate. Upon finding no real pvp, we decided to create some of our own.

We camped out in front of the pub base and proceeded to kill any and all pubs that tried to enter the area. I know that there was ONE incident where a group member pulled someone into a pvp flag (I think he wanted to see if it actually worked), but as a group we definitely decided that griefing wasn't something that we were interested in. I apologize if this individual was you. Our goal was to entice the pubs to come out for some open PVP. And did they ever!!!!

Within about 20 minutes, we had a group of at least 15 pubs storm out of their base and proceed to smash us to bits! We re-gathered and recruited about 10 more players and came back with force! We had about another hour of really solid (and fair) PVP; it was the most fun we've had in a REALLY long time. We even infiltrated their spawn area and had to juggle fighting their guardians plus any incoming pubs.

I don't know if anyone actually "won" but I do know that SWTOR would be much more fun if things like this happened on a more regular basis. I apologize to the people that got 8 vs.1'd, but if that happens in the future, your job as a responsible pub is to recruit your friends and fight back for control of important areas like BH (or at least turn off your flag if you're not interested in pvp).

Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to put it into perspective from the alleged griefers/no-lifes/bored ppl/etc.

Cheers!

I'm glad you had some fun. I remember the old days in Vanilla WoW when we had some epic pitched battles in STV, Hillsbrad, summoning stones, etc. Those were fun....however they were on PvP servers. Reroll there if you want that kind of fun.
