What does that have, that SWTOR does not?

This is a serious question, so i would like to know why and what your new game has that this game does not.
Watch "top 10 reasons to check out gw 2 " (on youtube) but to name a few:
* Immersion RP in ENTIRE storyline and ALL actions in all zones affect your story.
* No questing/missions = dynamic events happen in-game that affect the environment depending upon your acxtions (or inactions)
* flat leveling curve - each level takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to get, all the way to 80; not like this game where 30-50 makes you want to /wrists.
* Dual specc & changing builds AT WILL for free.
* Content scaling = if you are level 80 and want to investigate a starting area from another race (for example) you will automatically be leveled down to match the mobs in that area - yo'ull still have all your skills and abilities, but at a lower (temporarily) level.
* Pvp = you can do level 80 pvp in full pvp gear and full level 80 abilities IMMEDIATELY even as a level 1 - when you join pvp you're buffed up to level 80 with full pvp gear , just for the duration of the pvp, then back to where you were before.
* no holy trinity of TANK/ DPS/HEALERS = no standing around for an hour waiting for a group - all characters can do all roles - you have to work together to control/support/heal the group and take out enemies, but no dedicated tanking class and no dedicated healing class
IE = NO WAITING FOR GROUPS!
* No kill stealing , no need to invite others to groups - if they join in the combat they automatically are joined in, and the encounter is buffed up to match the increased # of players
* no grinding EVER needed
* no ninja's ! in groups, everyone who participates gets a reward for the boss kills
* not pay to win = stuff paid for does not affect character power
* home instance = when you finish your starting area, you get a section of the town that is YOURS FOREVER, is an instance, and npcs you interact with as part of yoru storyline can be there, update you with new info, gear etc
* you can be level 80 yet still go help a level 1 friend who is just starting and the game will make you comparable in power.
* no more worries about obnoxious people than in a pay to play like swtor; obnoxious idiots will still get banned, and have to pay the starting fee to buy a new game if their account is banned.

I WISH that SWTOR would follow in GW2's footsteps and go free to play and imitate all the above things;
i'd be back in a second and play both games equally.

YOu should just check out the youtube vids thoguh for reasons to play -
it's incredible.

Too bad you weren't paying attention a few days ago. There was a small hurricane of free beta key giveaways. Anyway.. I've played in one beta; I'm playing in this last one, haven't purchased it yet.. but yeah. Seriously, it really *is* as cooperatively flowing as I said.
Endgame gear grinds are not the way.

Why does everyone keep saying they arent leaving SWTOR, yet feel the need to comment anyway?

Thats like replying to an ebay auction with ''hey yeah, i like the item your selling. I dont want to buy it, but i think its great''.

I specifically stated ''To those leaving SWTOR for GW2'' for a very good reason.
My time card ends on December 5th. I have no intent to subscribe, let alone play, after i have completed all 9 episodes of KotFE. Likely i will subscribe for a single month to finish off the ''season'', play what remains and then say good bye to SWTOR until the END of the next season. Enjoy Bioware!

This game is garbage compared to GW2. Outsourced 3rd-world garbage.

Just look at these cities:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjLmknda6_Q
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4meuCo7ZvE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ll54HWQDws

They are larger than any planet in TOR. They have more life and art detail than anything in TOR.
Just compare the above to this...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3Rrk6lgi24
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9_hqGsnpp8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUdZn5v5sEU

TOR looks like something out of 2002. All races use the same body model because the developers were too cheap to make unique races. 95% of the mobs just stand there waiting for you to come mow them down because the developers were too lazy to script them. The planets are all linear hallways because the devs didn't want to take the time to make open-worlds and account for non-linear gameplay. There's no underwater, no day/night cycles, no exploration, no meaningful dialog choices, (all of which GW2 has). There's no depth in TOR because the developers were in such a hurry to get this game done as quickly and cheaply as possible.

Look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJIsdl4BL2Q
The same NPC is just copy/pasted over 20 times within a 50 foot radius. The developer who did this just didn't care.
Know why? Because he was a contracted outsource who doesn't give a crap about an American franchise like Star Wars, he just cares about getting the job done quickly, getting paid, then moving onto the next contract.

And here is Bioware bragging about how much outsourcing this game had, yea that was a real smart decision wasn't it.

Stupid, stupid people in charge of managing this game, they have no business near Star Wars or MMOs in general. Enjoy your legacy.
And you could look deep into my eyes
Like I was a super-model
Uh-huh

Sorry, I assumed you were looking for the reasons why...and not the individual players who were, most people left playing SWTOR will still be playing it when GW2 Launches as a lot of the people who are "leaving" SWTOR for other games have already left.
Cheers,

Ten/Kirine.

Because this is the Star Wars forum, not the guild wars 2 forum. This thread should be closed due to promoting another game

I've left SWtOR temporarily but that's for personal/time/financial reasons. I have pre-ordered GW2 and will play it as well. The changing of skills based on weapon config, 8 powers in your loadout total, more complex level-point scheme, etc. Lots of small differences. Both games have rich lore and I will continue to enjoy both.

level scaling (lowering your level to make lower level areas playable),

lack of needing to group up/no kill stealing.

leveling curve

and of course, pvp that is skill-based instead of including a gear-grind basis in any way, shape, or form. But i guess some people like gear grind gameplay
