Think I like it when people flood the general chat with LFG and TRADE bull crap? I'm certainly not going to get on the forums and QQ about it though.

People are chatting in general chat, even with these movie names. I enjoy it though, it's entertainment and cracks me up. But as she said, learn to fix it yourself. Dont expect GMs to come in and police people for TALKING in general chat.

This has got one be one of the saddest 'he's doing something i dont like' threads I've ever seen.

So then everyone that favors this Jawa bs is cool with me and some friends using General to play a new game. We won't use Jawa (movie name) we will use SWTOR Credit Sale (movie name). Just a personal preference of my group, and clearly just as much fun for all of you as Jawas are to me.

You are ok with your kids getting laid in a video game after killing countless citizens and creatures, but it isn't ok for them to see people talking about it? It's ok for your kids to talk to their companions with the purpose of getting laid.... but they can't see anything about it in chat?

Yes the game is T for Teen... with the disclaimer also printed on the same box that Online Experiences may vary.

Oh and before you judge me. I have a 7 year old son. If I don't want him to see something. He doesn't see it. It's simple.
That's why my son had to wait until he was 17 to play either of the Dragon Age games. My 15 year old is currently ticked off about that ban.

And, that's why my 15 year old is NOT allowed to play this game at the time. Some may argue that the age limit we have imposed as parents is a little harsh, given what they hear all the time, and may see on TV, this would be tame. But that's the decision we've made.

There is a disclaimer that their rating does not cover online interactions.

My suggestion is to use the "Suggestion Box" forum and ask for the ignore list to be maximized. Sounds like that could be a cure. Simply adding an additional 100-1000 slots for ignore might be all that is needed....

Easier suggestion that might work better than banning all these players.

OP can't be serious about the ignore list.

Still the mental image of someone hunched over their keyboard squinting at the screen with pursed lips and a knitted brow trying to /ignore everyone who makes a Jawa Movie title reference is a bit amusing. A thought bubble appears with some ironic statement about how horrible their time in game is because they are forced to read general chat.

I always enjoy reading general chat. Like going to a zoo or these forums.

This is exactly what all parents should be doing. Not neccessarily the same age requirements as that is all personal preference, but I mean regulating exposure to games/content that they don't feel is appropriate for their kids.

Ratings are meant as guide lines to help parents judge content at a glance. It's not a hard fast rule that everything PG13 is ok for 13 year old kids because we all know directors will push that envelope to allow things in their movies that skirt just on the boarder of being the next rating... R. If a movie is PG13 then a lot of parents will allow their kids to see it without question. The second there is a R rating then parents start shutting their kids from seeing the movie even though an R rated movie doesn't always mean it's extremely graphic or has too much sexual content.

To go with all that parents need to take responsiblity for what their kids are exposed to and stop blaming companies/TV/video games for all the lack of parenting skills. If you or your kids are playing SWTOR and their might be questionable content in general chat.. then limit the exposure to it. Use filters. Use the ignore list. You can even hide the chat screen all together. It's in your power to police your own experience and it shouldn't be put on BioWare to cover everything single thing that might happen. If you really feel the need you can report players and then a GM will take action. It's unrealistic to demand a GM in every single general chat across every single server 24/7.
Beatrush - 50 Assassin | Satellitebeam - 50 Sniper
Katastrophe - 41 Powertech | Ømnislash - 34 Marauder
Highwind - 29 Commando | ßraver - 23 Sentinel
Finalheaven - 21 Sage | Bigbrawl - 14 Scoundrel

I would like to see "GMs" (IF there are any) "silence" these people for a 24hr period each infraction that also silences them on the forums so they can't come here to complain about being "silenced" in the game. And if they complain about being silenced in or out of game once their silence is lifted the incur a "Weeks" worth of silence and forums black out. And after that time if they complain its up to a month and the next a year and the next 10 years.

Yeah ridiculously strict but, that is the only thing that will get the attention of people that are performing this behavior.
I wholeheartedly agree with your solution. That would be an effective way to change behaviours.
I unsubscribed to this game and still have time remaining on it. I am hopeful - probably naive in that regard - that EA / BioWare will make this game the fruitful business venture that it *can be* and still warrant continued subscription. There are other leisure activities in the universe.

It would be nice if you could make your own custom chat filters, so you can automatically not see any chat message with the word "Jawa" in it, for example.
I'm not arrogant. I'm just aware of my greatness.
