IDK man, stealing gear like that is a good way to get a poor rep...
Might not matter to some but for me and mine rep means alot.

The ONLY thing BENEFICIAL to the Shadow for a Guardian Token could be ONLY the Enhancement. Why would the shadow NEED Strength when they're Willpower based?

Personally that was unfair and stupid. I rolled 4 times SM EC and for those runs I ONLY have for my Sith Jugg 3 items, and some Black Hole Comms, while others have gotten alot more gear than I do running SM EC with me.

Should I take some trooper gear and imperial agent gear cause they have a better enhancement only? No, it doesnt benefit me, the people that needs it first takes it, and when nobody needs it everyone can roll for it whether its for companion, money or mods.

so long as you are all agreed the item in part of whole is in fact benefical, which is undeniable. You inability to spin this into some sort of smere campaign against the guy who won the Jedi Knight gear based on need roll and that players should only roll on items specific to their class in spite of the fact that certain items not for your class may be in part or whole better for you is ridiculous. Your perfect world DOES NOT EXIST, quit trying to make others live in it.

OP is obviously not telling the truth. According to devs and these forums something like that can never happen in the amazing community that grows from a single server LFG tool.

The other day I had some random guy need on a item I needed. It did not benefit him. I won the roll, but still asked him why he needed, to which he replied "someone did the same to me earlier". Was easily solved by a votekick.

Warhammers system is a bit better than SWTORs in this regard, another thing they completely ignored from WAR dispite it working (for some reason).
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

The of the sages needs it, so I mention it to them, and they say "I like lightsabers".

They traded it with me, but still, people do not always know or want to do the "proper" thing. No need to rage about it, just do as others suggested, put them on ignore and or tell others not to group with them because of their actions.
That doesn't work with item, that are "Bound on Pickup", like Tokens
waiting for ...

Well there's a very easy solution - don't make the BoA drops Class specific.

I still can't understand why it is - it would solved BW a lot of headaches by having tokens drop for just "Boots" which any class can take to their Vendor and exchange for "Boots" of their choice for their class. Lotros loots systems works fine like this (although it has a ton of other problems).

I mean its a token anyway that drops so why is it class restricted?

As to the Op I completley agree - I am a firm believer of the utilitarian principal of loot distribution i.e.if I NEED an item only a little bit but someone else NEEDS an item a lot (e.g. if just the Enhancement is good for me but the whole Item is good for you) then the person with the greater NEED should get the item.

In the long run this is actually a greater benefit to you even though you didn't win that item because even though you didn't get that 5 power upgrade (or whatever) the fact that the other person boosted a lot more of their stats means next time you run a FP or OP even though you personally didn't improve your gear the fact that someone else has means the total efficiency (and ultimatley success rate) of your group has gone up by far more overall than if you had won the item. Thus you personally do benefit from altristic behavious of ensuring the item goes to the person with the most need.

Sadly although this works well in guilds most PuGs don't bother thinking about this. But then next time those players are complaining about wipes / slowness / undergeared players they should maybe consider that it could be a direct result of someone doing what the OP describes and be deterred from doing it themselves.

Who are you to ASSUME what "NEED" means to another player?

See what Im getting at? I feel your pain, you lost a roll, so do what the rest of us do, RUN IT AGAIN. Its really that simple.

And please, enough with the whole "LAZY" argument, its not a valid response to your issue at hand.

The guy was a "ninja" looter. He rolled need because he hadn't gotten anything on the run so he needed something. . All your message lawyering questions are just excuses to be a jerk to the rest of the people in the group.
