This is 2012, not 2004... the demand for everything to be in a game is a lot higher than it was back in 2004.

People don't want to wait for this stuff, and then pay for it years later in an expansion...when they've already gone through the exact same situation with other games. Some people feel they have already paid for these types of features among the MMORPG category when they paid for it over 5 years ago in WoW. People expect new games like SWTOR to have the all of the stuff that other MMORPGs have in it, but bringing it to another level since it is a newer game, and it has better technology to be more creative with it. They don't want to have to wait for it to be added to the game, when they could just go pay $15 for a different game that already has had it for many years.
Yes we saw TOR's end game was a lot better than WOW vanilla, it's just not that interesting compare to the personal story.

I won't deny that TOR could still improve, but right now, the biggest problem is that the player base simply got tired of most of the MMO style, even if Blizzard makes a new WOW style MMO it won't be much better.

As for "bring it to another level", nobody is able to do it right now, and I don't think Bioware, a MMO newbie can do it. The story and VA is on the top level of MMO I will say.

Blizzard is smart, and that is why WoW is starting to look like a kids game. They are trying to make their game appealing to people that haven't experienced a MMORPG yet. Now they will be able to suck in a whole new crowd of people for years to come.

i never like wow science it launched,
during the same time, i think eq2 is much better than wow,
but the market proved that wow is much more success than eq2,
now after several years, here comes the swtor....
English is not my first language, still working on it.

No risks, no reward.

6 months later and only now we get transfers and LFG tool (still lame and needs polishing), thats simply not acceptable when u try to make your customer pay $15 per month to play a game that should be at least as complete as any MMO out there that uses the old Everquest/WoW MMO formula.

The leveling on this game is awesome (side quests, main storyline), the sound, the music and the voice acting is excelent, but the rest is nothing new in the MMO world....its just a copy of things that have already been seen in other games, and this doesnt help SWTOR in becoming an atractive new game.

When u hit 50, your fun with the game takes a turn down instead of getting better: the pvp seems less balanced and the pve gets boring fast....u have to repeat the same 3 ops and flashpoints over and over and over and over again with your friends/pugs just to farm gear.

If anyone is having fun doing this, congratulations, but i have to confess im not....not anymore.

I have enjoyed this game for 6 months, mostly i think because i have been making alts to know the storyline behind each class.

If i knew the game was gonna be like this, just a copy of other MMO´s mechanics, i would have stayed with the KOTOR 3 idea.

I wish good luck to the ppl at Bioware, i really hope u guys mature this game into an excelent MMO, my best wishes and thank you.

For anyone who is still having fun with the game, enjoy!

Thats whats most important about a game: having fun.

So dont mind me, this is just my opinion and the reasons why i will not be staying in the game once my sub runs out.

I see u guys around.
This sums up how I feel about the game.I enjoyed the stories but after levelling 3 50's on Imp side I then started the gear grind on 2 of them.Got to WH and just found myself not enjoying it any more.Same wz's all the time,no open world pvp and dont get me started about dailies (mindnumbing cluster feck).Grinding gear aint gonna keep me here any longer, boring and a time sink.Pve side of things aint much better.
So my sub runs out in 9 days and I wont be back unless they sort out the endgame. If peeps are still having fun, power to them.I'm not so cya SWTOR.

If SWTOR makes money, it is successful. It will not be the largest MMORPG, and judging a game based upon that quality isn't really a reasonable expectation for a game less than a year old. SWTOR is a success, because people keep playing it. It's pretty much hit rock bottom I think, and when you lose 25% of your subscriptions, and still have more than games like EVE Online, or LOTRO or even RIFT, then you're doing fine. Server populations are getting a lot better and the numbers of heavy populated realms have tripled or more.

The whole point is this: if you like the game, great. If not, don't sub to it. Roleplaying makes a game just like PvP makes a gem, just like End Game makes a game. The game makes itself after a community get's it's hands on it. There isn't a silver bullet fix to anything out there in this market. Presuming that there is, is ignorance in the extreme, especially since we've seen how that mentality has failed in the past.

It's all about balance, which BioWare has been doing a pretty decent job so far. There are always going to be people who have their favorite mechanics not up to the level they'd like, and that is where most of the griping comes from. Just learn to deal with it. There's plenty more about this game that shines, than not.

To be fair how is that different from pretty much every other theme park mmo?
3 operqations, 8 flashpoints, 3 planets for dailys, pvp, space combat, speeded quests, datacron hunt (unless you got them all while leveleing), pet hunt, world boss hunt.
This is all stuff you can do at 50.

When i take a look at the latest EQ2 expansion (DoV) at launch you had 3.5 raids, 9 instances, 2 zones for dailys, 2 events that fire every 2 hours, 1 dungeon, some collections that give you house items, crafting, decorating your house. While you could do stuff in olders expansion content it was too easy because you were way too powerfull. Even for same level content.

When i compare both they are about the same. The only thing this game can not offer is a housing system and crafting is not really an activity in this game.
There is enough to do. If you like this content is up to yourself.

I totally agree with this. but it's not only the roleplaying fluff that get's cut out ...it's a lot of other things.
I can only assume, that some soulless suit at ea ran the numbers on features and calculated the bang/buck and this is what came out of it.
Just because you're not paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

Also you want fluff there are groups on servers that organize events...I have seen races set up on multiple servers where players will race across zones with people set up at checkpoints etc to make sure there is no cheating. Ive seen pvp fluff events in outlaws den where guilds will award items or money to the winners. You want fluff? plenty to be had all you gotta do is look
u missed the point of the post but dont worry most mmo players understand whats missing in this game its called atmosphere pets are not fluf they are a useless add on that cant even keep pace with u
we have 1 mini game and some speeder that look stupid and out of place some look ok most dont
story vids are not fluff they are the games overall presentation

fluff is 100% custamisiable looks with colour plates to make our own looks not pre programed ones
guild housing WITH choice of looks style and interior options
player ship options that dont clash with story vids so u can make YOUR SHIP LOOK THE WAY U WANT.
planets being more then a 1 round play through so new players dont think the games dead cos for a new player it would look that way
Housing even if its lotro style
emotes that work
night and day cycles

these are just a few things
love the games story but after that what do u have in 2 more months ill have pumped all the story what do i do then standing in fleet waiting for pvp sorry but thats it at end game
also the crafting system is sad to be frank in this game the system they made aint what i would call a crafters dream i love crafting in all my other games but here there is little reward for doing it
pazzak and star wars battle chess would be ausome we have a the narshadar cassino use it for pazzak and i reckon that would be were most would meet up for some games of cards
and if im not mistaken most ships have a chess bord in them already wouldnt be a hard thing to add either i wouldnt think

The thing is there probably isn't any where with the atmosphere of Goldshire (I mean design-wise, not noob-wise ).

The most atmospheric zones are probably Tatooine and maybe Hoth (although I do like Tython, Korriban and DK too - just there never seems to be much reason to go back or hang out).

But taking Tattooine, SWGs verison was much more atmospheric, because of the freedom and because of the little things like day/night cycles.

Some games like LOTRO really excelled at zone feel (LOTRO especially because although it has a large land mass it isn't especially huge in the context of AC and SWG), and it's always a good sign in a game when you actually want to go and see the scenery. SWTORs scenery always seems like you are looking at a static snapshot photograph, not stood within the liviing world.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

I think this is 100% true my Sub ends on the 30th. and this is the exact reason cause the world isn't "fluffed" or w/e it don't seem to give me that OMG! feel I had when I played games like EVE,SWG,WoW, and am having playing WoW:MoP beta. Hopeing for GW2 to be better this game is over for me. Bye guys and good luck with everything
