Ok, does WoW and LOTRO have alot of stuff... yes. They have also been around for longer than 7 months.

this is a New Game, of course its not going to have the same stuff that older games do, when SWTOR has been around for as long as WoW or LOTRO then we can compare MMO-peens.

Alot of people dont remember how buggy and unplayable vanilla was, we have had a much better start than V-WoW

The Swtor forum attracts trolls because the forums are more fun than raiding dragon soul.
Complaining is the new meta game.

I don't know about that. I know I, for one, shout "The Quickening!" every time I use Force Lightning with my Inquisitor.

Computers on the wall are not interactive. A few emotes are weird and have no action associated with them (Try /sleep and you'll remain standing.) A holo chess mini game would rock.

I have seen an upcoming features video where the developers showed us an old Super NES SW game being played in TOR. So, it would appear that the developers are aware of the lack of fluff and are going to put some in. A recent Q&A quoted one developer saying they were now going to concentrate on some quality of life issues in the game. I can only hope that some of this fluff is included.
Honestly I think saying TOR is missing what other MMORPGs have is a mistake in itself!

If I loved what those other MMOs had Id still be playing them.

Having said that, TOR is missing TOR FLUFF!

Paazaak (this not being in launch is UNFORGIVABLE TO ME)
Swoop racing ala KotOR1 (this not being in Launch is UNFORGIVABLE to me)
Pit Fighting (heck in legacy you even get unarmed fighting abilities yet there is no combat pits like in K1 and K2, COME ON!!!)

Those 3 are the biggest reason I dont think EA deserves any breaks or credit at all.

The fact those 3 didnt make Launch is completely unacceptable to me.
The fact that over 6 months after launch they still not in game is a complete JOKE to be honest and tells me the design team doesnt have a freaking clue.

TOR launched with combat, combat, and more combat and even a uneducated WOW player could have told EA that people will get bored of combat only in a MMORPG.

TOR is in effect a nice shinny box with nothing inside right now and players like me keep hoping and praying we start getting some fluff and filler inside and instead we get meaningless pets. Id gladly give back all the pets I have and will get for working Paazaak and Swoop Racing and pit fighting in game.

1.4 should be all about Paazaak and swoop racing. Hell 1.1 should have been, Beta should have been.

If EA ever gets their act togather and starts filling out TOR and community/social building content, this game will start to get a heart beat and a soul. Till then TOR really just plays like a game of Diablo where you group up and kill stuff over and over.

As a MMO it lacks all the extras that create communities and social enviroments.
In regards to lessening F2P and Preferred restrictions
In GAMING, as in LIFE,
You get what you pay for
No game restriction is so dire that $15.00/month will not eliminate it

Conclusion: This game will be picked apart to death in the forums.
Just like the other MMO forums...developers are left with no recourse but to let the threads blow up and die out, There will always be unhappy people that will be so Chronicaly nit picky that the game is no longer fun for them because the concept of a glass being have full is a fleeting thought. Its tunnel vision and a mob mentality, meaning generaly outside of being in a mob you wouldn't heave so many rocks , bottles and other debri at other people.

I have seen action taken to improve and try to please the community, but everytime, the community lashes out in dissaproval or really enjoy the patches and updates.
Fluff? maybe some of that fluff was on the backburner due to the voice over process to give players something new and more emersive and to create stories that are more alive rather than a silent npc along with a text window..
There is plenty of places to upgrade and utilize areas in the game for future content.
Casinos, Cantinas, the future may hold more fluff in those locations down the road, thats an assumption, not an expectation or fact.

Let the game evolve, they do open threads for the zillion questions the community has , although it seems impossable to please everyone with an answer to all those questions.

It is not just the TOR forums picking TOR apart, it is other sources also. You donot launch a new MMO nowdays without "all" the features other existiing top MMO's have allready. If you do, you are going to severely limit your potential.
Trust is something which is earned.

I believe swtor is missing this crucial element and that is why I am considering ending my subscription.

If you look at WOW or lotro or other mmo's that have been around awhile they have this "fluff" and roleplaying elements within the world. I remember spending countless hours just screwing around in goldshire but swtor doesnt really seem to have any place like that. The fleet sorta works but besides trolling in general chat all the fleet is really good for is using the gtn and staging flashpoints or pvp. So far Bioware has not been able to suck me into their world as well LOTRO or WOW or SWG has.

Its worth noting that I think swtor does a lot of things right, the story is awesome, the combat is good and many other things are great about it. However, it is missing some crucial elements needed to retain players.

What you guys think?
Because there was so much to do in goldshire...

I'm not saying we don't need some small side games, its just that goldshire is a bad example.

I'm not quitting because we don't have mini games. I spend enough time doing the regular stuff. Oh, and please tell me what defines successful in this genre when WoW has 10 millon people and everyone else has a million or less.

As long as they have an active base and turning a profit, they are successful.
