Stale Game

I have 7 level 50 toons so I’ve seen most of the story content, and yes it starting to get stale fast.

I’m disappointed that the “endgame never done before” quote from James Olhen didn’t pan out. I was hoping that the endgame would offer something else other then the standard dailies, Raides or PvP grind for gear skinner box end game.

It would have been nice to see swtor return to more open world PvP or spontaneous operation like dynamic events in the open world that players could collectively do for rewards.

I think it would be cool (as an example) for a server wide call be made to (x) level range that (x) rogue War Droid has gone haywire and is attacking civilians outside the senate tower letting players know a dynamic event is about to happen.

Open world social community events like the above would help the multiplayer feel of the game and prime players for other multi-player activities needed in a game that’s easy to get caught up in the Bioware’esk story content and forget about interacting with other players.

I’m really tired of the lobby world feel MMO’s take on at end game, where at cap I just kill time in the lobby waiting for my ticket to come up to join in on instanced content, MMO designers need to fix this.

If all your doing is pitting 16 players groups against PvE environments or 8v8 pvp that’s not massively, every other consol game is doing that in 2012 …. Sorry but the open world environments need more reason and rewards for players to come together on a massive scale.

Crafting is another big disappointment; we have this awesome system to transfer hard won stats from one gear set to another. Then for the love of George Lucus give crafters the upper hand at least with the cosmetics and let us craft some orange gear that player might want to transfer there stats into…..the gear crafters can make are just generic pieces of crap.

So ya, its all starting to feel a little too familiar and stale.

o.o oh dear....im starting to see where this is going...as to guy who posted above me....ive seen all these things you`ve mentioned before in different games...those games went there and ended up messed up in the end

what bioware needs to do is a little spying i think (not like its spying when you can go to youtube and look it up)

tell me,guy who posted above me...

would you like titanic clashes of pvp involving hundereds of players at once?weekly and semi weekly events?sometimes random events where a gm pops onto the game and starts using gm powers to create a fun event?being able to pick tons of different fashion and wear it ontop of your armor without effecting your stats?a massive amount of character customization like facial characteristics?

i know where all these things are,and if you pm me,maybe i tell you....but trust me,if you go to this place youll be so far removed from star wars that youll probably end up back here very quickly...the place i speak of has already died long ago
(but is still somehow alive)

I lead tours on my server and show noobs and non elite jumpers how to get to the DCs, heck I even pull some of them to the Datacrons with my Sage if they want to give up after falling several times.
Sounds interesting, might try that, since Im already maxed out.

All theme-park MMO's like SW:TOR become stale as soon as you reach a point where you can clear endgame content quicker than they can develop it. As it costs a lot of money to develop new content, most players of theme-park MMO's will eventually reach this point.

Sandbox MMOs are different: you create the content, usually in the form of an intricate crafting economy or in the form of open world pvp. As you create the content, the game has a much longer lifespan and you as a player become much more involved in what is going on. That is why sandbox's *in theory* are far superior to themepark mmos. In reality though, most sandbox mmo's are simply too complicated for most people so the population is too small and they usually have a heavy focus on pvp, something which most people aren't in to.

Relating this back to TOR, I actually think the developers are doing a great job of pumping out content and this game has a lot of it. The major problem is they made the early stuff i.e. flashpoints, too easy and gear acquisition too quick. What should have taken months to clear all flashpoints and operations and be fully kitted out actually only took weeks for the top guilds, and 1-2 months for an average guild.

To avoid this, Bioware just need to change their gearing strategy a little bit. As a player, probably worth cutting back on your play time or finding a new interest within the game.
Anstalt - lvl 50 valor 81 Shadow Consular

Currently retired due to poor design decisions within the game that have killed its longevity. Get rid of Hickman before he ruins the game completely!

This is what makes me sad, though. This game was supposed to break away from the "traditional" MMOs and offer us something different. They went out of their way to add in voice acting and promote a story-driven game. Yet, at the endgame, we get the same old stuff every other game has.

To a degree, I understand that it is hard to break away from that, or else they'd be spending all of their energy/money adding new things for level 50's and ignoring the rest of the game. You have to have some repeatable stuff so that you can let things run a while as you work on new things. But there has to be a balance point in there somewhere to make the repetitive stuff at least somewhat enjoyable.

For example, dailies are repetitive by nature, but perhaps they could throw in some more instanced ones and put random mobs/objective in there to give some sense of variety. Flying around on your speeder looking for a respawned objective that isn't already camped is not fun. The Corellia dailies used to be my favorites, but since the server merges, they are overcrowded and take about twice as long to complete.

I'm all for earning what I have in a game, but I don't think it's being unreasonable to ask for a bit more variety while doing it.

The problem with this game is items. there are no rare items in this game, and by rare I mean actually rare and no I'm also not talking about different skins. What it seems is that BW is trying to please everybody by making items to easy to obtain. If any1 played UO, they would remember what a real grind entails. Months to years of killing the same bosses in hope that you could actually get a rare drop that would make you rich.

buaha...you just brought back some of my sweeter memorys...i played some asian grinders with round abouts the same lvl of rare items

but you do have a good point....this game needs things that are stark examples of undying power and dedication...

and when it does happen,i suggest making the instances for this stuff solo only...it will keep problems with in-group/in-clan fighting from happening over the drops, and will enhance the person`s sense of accomplishment alot more

Repetitive sure, but eh.... still find the game enjoyable. However so far all MMO's I've played are pretty much the same thing in terms of endgame content.
Other MMOs, including a super popular one, have all kinds of other activities like carnivals, events, fishing, more involved crafting, drinking, role-playing, endless achievements, reputation, and well vastly more of the usual end-game content.

BW put all their focus on their voice over leveling content and hardly any in those other areas that matter a great deal more, long term.

Anyone else spot the irony in that statement?

Essentially, MMOs require a personal developer team for every player to be making new content for that player in real-time, lest it become stale.

Hyperbole and exemptions do your argument no credit.

consider things in context for once...and if your going to quote someone, quote the entire message....the statement is more lending to if bioware put more into the storyline it wouldnt just be what he wants but what others want as well

i happen to be one of the ones that wants more storyline....and i know others (they aint hard to find on here)

and also in response to you quoting that guy....attacking someone out of the blue without a long winded rebuttal is no credit to you either
