Not really...and I'll tell you why:

I've got a real job and I don't want a make believe one. I have a real house, and I can't decorate it worth a dang either.

I played SWG at a point in my life where I was able to build massive spread sheets to track materials, factory and harvester outputs and used a white board and post it notes like a Fortune 50 CEO. I had plenty of time on my hands and at the time SWG filled the space with something that kept my mind sharp and my interest piqued.

However, I've since come to the conclusion that the time I wasted on SWG was better spent elsewhere. I still play MMO's, but more of the WoW variety that doesn't involve advance economics and statistic modeling in order to succeed. I play them as an escape from the real world that sucks bad enough, thank you very much, without making my MMO entertainment into its image.

If you want the digital satisfaction of running your own business...do it in real life and earn a few bucks. If you want to decorate, buy a house and get at it.

I don't miss the days of going to a desert planet and not being able to travel more than 20 seconds without running into a player structure of some sort. I don't miss the endless sprawl of buildings surrounding Mos Eisley. I would hate to see that sort of thing here...

Sandbox play sets certain restrictions on an MMO. If a game is designed around it, fine, but you can't retrofit sandbox play styles to an established MMO. Sure, Bioware could pull and EQ2 and give us instanced personal spaces and I wouldn't have any issue with that. I wouldn't mind customization of space ship interiors either for that matter. However, how many resources would that drain from the rest of the game to implement? Would it be to the detriment of the game as a whole? Does it serve the majority of players?

Any action taken in game has to be weighed against the greater good of the game itself. SWG spent so much time on emotes and dances that we spent the first months of the game running across planets like some sort of Space Luddites. I'd rather not see that again.
"50 Grades of Shae", a heart-warming novel about a Mandalorian that delivers beat-downs and assigns grades to her victims.

As players who obviously has plenty of "constitution" as you say and and have probably played the game without breaks since launch, let me tell you my experience.

I played from the very first launch day (giddy as a schoolboy I might add) only to be sourly dissapointed after a while. The game was broken, graphics sucked, sound sucked (still do alot of the time but its better), everything seemed buggy and crappy but I didn't care it was a star wars mmo and I managed to play until level 48 which was around february (yes I took my time and didnt rush anything). But then I just wasn't entertained anymore and I frankly couldn't stand the graphical issues, it's a gamebreaker for me.

Well I picked it up again recently the first day of patch 1.3 and I am enjoying my frickin self alot!

Do you know how you can't tell if people get fat cuz you spend too much time with them? (like work with them 5 days a week or something)

Well you guys might be unable to see the fattyness atm because you haven't been away from the game. But I'm telling you as someone who just came back the game has improved significantly since february when I last played. It feels alot more flowing, less static and choppy and just all around better. Sure many of the features you mention could be cool, but just thought I would mention... the game is definently getting better with every patch.
- Wanna see ToR succeed!

I'm not so sure about the necessity to have exclusive, hardcore-only content to work towards - or about the idea that the gear grind is necessary and it better be a dang long one. To me, that's talking like stockholm syndrome .. 'I walked to school up hill in the snow... both ways, and darn it, this younger generation will too!'.

No, no .. what MMOs need, to me, is a variety of fun activities that feel rewarding in and of themselves.

SWTOR needs .. dare I say it? Rep grinds for cute pets. Pazaak ladder tournaments - the nar shadaa casino CRIES OUT for this. Places to veg out and go farming mats for a while. Challenge modes on dungeons for unique titles - imagine if the number of commendations you got from a hard mode depended on earning 'pve badges' for speed, cc, and damage output. Chairs to sit down in, more stupid little toys like bubble machines and such.

All of that stuff.. in addition to pvp and flashpoints and operations. That kinda thing would make the world much more of a long term investment for people, and provide meaningful, necessary distraction when the sheer nihilistic meaninglessness of the gear grind strikes you down.
Endgame gear grinds are not the way.

The thing with this game is like i said it gave us so much and we are suffering from withdrawl.

So the game is good, its just to damn good for what we are used to whilst leveling.
TOR is too damn good? I am quiting it not because of any reasons like that or even what the OP stated. My reasons are a lack of a effective tool for "all" the players on "all" the servers to do the end game content. That and a lack of a good crafting system. And WoW did do a update last Dec which was the cross server Looking for Raid tool which has allowed a ton of players to experence the end game content and defeat Deathwing.
Trust is something which is earned.

what the mmo genre needs over all is some diveristy, with the pure theme park game, my toon does not feel like it lives in the world, just playing through.

This is the Star Wars IP, so many thing things could be done, form cantina games to swoop and pod racing, just to name a couple off the top of my head, the genre has been almost the same since eq,and maybe even futher back than that.. I think thats why allot of people are getting tired of mmo's, but on the other hand when some games have tried new things, they never made past a small niche market, I dunno what really would work today with the fickle gamers out there, unwilling to try something a bit different.
Do not dwell in the past, do not not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Expectations lead to suffering

Day/night in every planet. Moons with phases. Changing weather in every planet. Crowded player cities. Crowdwd NPC cities (Theed, Coronet, Mos Eisley. Anchorhead, Moenia, etc.) in all planets. Really barren and lifeless... lol

I honestly don't like the bugs and poor performance. Thats my biggest gripe.
