This is not a system issue. I have a new alienware laptop and can play the came on max settings. the problem seems to be wifi. If i'm plugged in, no prob. If I'm using wifi, the game has become almost unplayable. While I have the ability to play on a landline, when I like to play outside of my basement, I need wifi. This was not a problem before 1,2 so I can only assume the patch messed something up.

hi, im having the same problem, i played from day 1 with maxed out settings, and the game was running perfectly smooth, but after the patch 1.2 my game is lagging like hell! it really has become to an unplayable state, low fps VERY LOW fps. i made a complaint to swtor many times addressing this issue, nothings seems to be happening.
i like this game very much and it makes me sad that after patch 1.2 the game is practical unplayable...

im very sertain this isnt a problem with my pc, i run battlefield 3 on maxed settings with no lag at all,
something seems to be wrong with their engine or something els from the client itself, who knows?

I hope, no i wish they will fix is issue very soon, so i/we can continue our epic journey

my specc:
i7-2600
8gb ram DDR3
GTX 560 ti TOP x2 SLI
850W made for SLI mode

Greetings All,

Please go to the in-game graphics settings and choose the Graphics Quality Preset "Very Low". Click on apply and then OK. Return to the graphics options and set your preferences individually and click apply and OK. This should apply your preferences correctly and return your game performance to expected levels.

You should make sure that you have the correct DirectX components installed on your system. For further details please check here

Try setting your graphics card settings to performance options rather than quality for better frame rates.
Check that your Graphics card has the most recent drivers installed.
For instructions on how to update your Graphics card drivers please see here.

You should check that you have the latest Service Pack and Windows Updates installed for your operating system including the optional updates such as .NET Framework and Visual C++ features.
There is also a Graphics Quality Preset option in-game that you can set to Very Low.

These steps should help you get back to the levels of performance expected.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for playing Star Wars: The Old Republic

Greetings Areomayo,

There are a couple of types of lag, to determine if you are having connectivity lag please read on...

Can you tell us more about your internet connection please? Do you connect wirelessly? Are you connecting with a 3G connection?

Firstly, if you connect via Wi-Fi please instead connect your machine directly with a cable if possible.

To try to identify connectivity problems can I ask you to post your pathping results here.
To do this please go through the following steps while experiencing lag:

In order to generate a pathping, please complete the following steps:
  • Press Windows Key + R, type ‘cmd’ and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter. Pressing Ctrl+Shift+Enter rather than just enter will run this command as administrator and prevent the message 'the requested operation requires elevation'. In the command window, please type in the following command:
    • pathping -n xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
      • Please replace ‘xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx’ with the relevant server IP below.
        • If you play on an East Coast server: 159.153.92.28
        • If you play on a West Coast server: 159.153.68.252
        • If you play on a European server: 159.153.72.252

This may take a couple of minutes so please wait whilst it completes. Once the information is visible please right click and select "Mark", you can then select all the information using your mouse, when you have selected everything press return/enter. This will have copied all the information that you have selected. Paste it to a text document and save.
  • Copy/Paste the content of the file into your post using this format:
content of pathping.txt
Please modify your pathping file so that your IP address which is entry number 1 in the list of IP addresses is not visible and attach the pathping.txt to your reply for analysis.

If we see an issue with your pathping results there are troubleshooting steps we can provide.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you for playing Star Wars: The Old Republic

i must confess that running the settings on very low the game runs alot more smoother, but i still get graphic lag spikes,

but it cant be i have to run swtor on the minimum settings when i used to run everything on maxed out.
Swtor looks terrible on low settings, and not fun to play with at all.

i hope you guys look into this problem, because it cant be i have to run with minimal settings with my specc, my pc is ment to play everything on high!

note: i have tried to re-install swtor many times, even on different hard drives

I have to chime in on this thread too. I am running into the same issues. I have a decent laptop, I am getting a general "questing" FPS of about 25-30, which is fine, sometimes I get lag spikes I drop to 10 FPS. Battlegrounds are unplayable as they stay at 5 FPS and below. Imperial Fleet, same issue very low FPS. I am running the game on lowest settings, starting the .exe as administrator, which seemed to stop the issues before 1.2. I have the following hardware:

Alienware Area-51 M15x
Vista 64bit
4GB ram
ATI Radeon HD 3870 mobility (512mb DEDICATED ram) - this is a pci express card
Intel Core 2 Duo T-9500 2.60Ghz CPU
Seagate 7200 RPM (16MB cache) HDD

I am on a wired connection. I find that there is not a real difference between wired and wireless. If this continues, I will un-subscribe. I'm not paying for this. I find it odd that this is the only game I can't run. I am a computer technician by trade, by no means am I a developer, but I know my hardware.

I have the same problem, but I`m 100% sure that the problem is with game server issue. I have played untill 1.2 with smooth FPS and latency. Right after 1.3 hit, I almost can`t play this game. FPS drops sometimes down significantly, but more annoying is the latency issue. I play with around 80, and without any reason this spikes to 500 or 800 for 2-3 seconds and then goes back to normal. This is VERY frequent and makes game unplayable(couldnt finish my storyline quest cause of laggs), golden enemies are VERY HARD do kill without cooldowns, cause sometimes my char stands before them and do nothing cause of lagg. PVP is just impossible.

I have noticed, that this 1.3 patch also messes up with my router, cause crashes my internet connection at random, just cuts off the internet and to restore it I have to reset the reouter itself.

I had no problems when I played 1.2 and I have no laggs at all in any other game. The router crashing issue happens only when I play SW:TOR.

This is 100% not a grafical issue cause I tried to play at very low setting just to avid laggs, but no difference, still got spikes.
