Hi newbie here,

I joined a group and when I tried to join them in the game there was a red barrier, it said it was class restricted. Why on earth was I able to join, is there no check for this when one joins a group?

Thanks

It may have to do with your preferances. If you have not checked the box to enable access to the same class story that might be a problem. I have helped friends in heroics that are troopers, smugglers, knights and never had that problem. They also helped me.

I was also asked to help a fellow consular on a mission.

By default you cannot enter the instances of somebody else's class storyline if you are the same class as them. Side missions, heroic missions, flashpoints, etc. have no such restrictions, though.

As already said, there is an option in your preferences to alIow it, though (under "Social" if memory serves, but I'm not 100% sure of that). Guess it is set that way by default to stop people accidentally seeing spoilers about what they themselves might be doing in the future. You have to actively choose to do it.

Keep in mind that even if you are different classes than the person whos quest it is has to go in first, after that all the other players may enter.
