I tend to vote kick people like that...spacebar is your friend.

I have now changed the lyrics of "Jukebox Hero" to Spacebar Hero".

It really gets old the 50th time one person might run it. To you, it`s new. To them, it`s the gear grind chore.

Learn to to understand other points of view, or they would have no reason to understand yours.

Common courtesy states you should ask as a minimum a vote. If you didn`t, or get voted out, well... you spacebar, leave by yourself or get kicked. No problems for anybody.

Also a friendly warning : People with a too big of a mouth get ignored or kicked really fast, so you need to be polite in your requests, or you`ll find the server you`re on to be a very small one soon enough.

QFT.

There are going to be people running a flashpoint maybe for the first time, maybe for subsequent times, that do not want to spacebar through the story. If you are in an FP and someone is not space barring, they don't want to space bar. Shouting it at them is probably not going to change their mind. At worst you can lose a player as in the OPs case.

It can be worth establishing when you start that you want to listen to the story, or space bar through it. That way at least you won't be wasting time with a group that's going to yell at you/take longer to run with then you are willing. Even if your first play through you don't find a group willing to let you listen to a story you might find one on your next que, etc.

I don't watch the content if I've already run through it a few times, but I absolutely watch all the cutscenes the first few times. And when people tell me to spacebar through, I just don't. If they can't handle it, they can leave the group or vote to kick me from the group.

If people state at the start of the FP that they want to watch cut scenes I would be fine with it.

Due to only having limited time to play I do like to get through my FP's fast. but Hey, beggars cant be choosers right? I have watched all the cut scenes before, but yeah, at the end of the day, if it is stated at the start that they want to watch then its fine, I usually say at the start that I would prefer a space bar run, and ask if anyone has an issue.

I like cutscenes. Even on very familiar flashpoints I pretty much never spacebar whenever a player character talks, because I like to enjoy the dialogue and voice actors of the other less familiar classes/sexes. Or hearing my character's voice coming from another body is always entertaining.

But I'm also hypersensitive about annoying people. If you aren't terribly familiar with the FP but are willing to compromise and aren't pushy about getting your way, do what I do. Turn subtitles on, read the dialogue quickly, and spacebar through. At least then you still know what's going on, even if you don't get to enjoy all the voice acting.

I'm not gonna pretend I need to watch this little convo with Cole Cantarous again. But if something epic is happening, I will say stand your ground and watch it!
Time for a nap.

Is this the fate of a story driven mmo to skip the one thing that makes this game unique?

Bio needs to turn off the option to spacebar in flashpoint.

Should people be forced to skip content just for the sake of speedrun?
I see where you are coming from & generally if it's your 1st time through a FP I have no issue with you watching the cut scenes. But you have to see it from the other side too. I have probably been through that FP 20+ times & DO NOT want to watch the cut scenes that many times. At this point I am there to get in, get my crap & get out as quickly as possible. Just let people know that it's your 1st time through & I think they will mostly be ok, but once you have seen them, please please please hit that spacebar so we can get done with this & I can get on to farming something else.
