There seems to be a new mode of Lost Island added in the 1.3 patch. It's entirely down to the intense lag you get on a couple of fights. The sav-rak fight can be impossible sometimes purely due to the fact none of the UI works for about 3-5seconds and you're waiting for the screen to update. This was happening uniformly across all our group taking part in it last night - all on different ISPs in different countries with vastly different specs and all experiencing the exact same issue and lag. Seems to be whenever he jumps up to the pipes - at that opint it's pure luck how the next bit can play out.

Should also add that on the one occasion we were screwed as on 2/4 of our screens he was still on the ground fighting us when he should have been on the pipes - but on the other 2/4 players screens he was up on the pipes and they were doing the buttons and wondering why our health was suddenly dropping so much.

Buggy. Please fix.

The lag, well I can't even describe it as lag, you explained in this post is something I have experienced first hand. It mainly happens when Sav-Rak jumps up to the pipe. As soon as he does my screen locks up for 3-4 seconds. Keep in mind the rest of my computer is working just fine. I am able to communicate over VOIP, I am able to alt tab, it is just a screen freeze.

Yes, exactly what we saw. We tried to make it better afterwards and seemingly did so too. Turned down ambient sounds, music sounds, all graphics settings to low and gave it another go. We still experienced noticeable 'stutters' for a second here and there but it did allow us to complete that aspect just about.

I thought I'd add in the helpful reply I got from CSR:

Thank you for reporting your current issue with in-game lag.

While in-game lag is caused by a lot of factors, some of it out of our control, you can try out the procedure below to try to alleviate and/or totally fix your lag and latency issues:

For now please try not to share the internet connection. Wireless connections are prone to interference, so if your are using this type of connection please connect to your router device using a wired Ethernet connection. This will help troubleshoot whether the wireless connection is stopping or hindering you from from connecting properly to the game.

If using a wired Ethernet connection is not possible, please ensure that your wireless connection is as stable as possible. Microsoft has given the following advice for improving wireless connections: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/setup/wirelesstips.aspx

If you are connected to a USB modem, please connect to the modem using Ethernet instead. If it doesn't have an Ethernet option, please connect the modem directly to a USB port on your PC and not to a USB hub.You should really try to connect directly to the modem.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer support solutions for 3G customers.

Configure your Firewall/Router by adding SWTOR executable files to the list of exceptions.

Make sure that all drivers are up to date, and that you have the latest firmware and drivers available for your modem:

>If you access the internet through an external broadband modem, be sure you have the latest firmware and drivers available for your modem.
>If your computer connects to the modem via USB, be sure you have the latest drivers for your motherboard or their USB PCI card.
>If your computer connects to the modem via Ethernet, be sure that your network card has the latest drivers installed.

Open the appropriate network card properties, click on Configure and to go to the “Power Management” tab and to unselect the “Allow Computer to turn off this device to save power” if selected.
You can also remove any third-party interfaces (Teamspeak Overlay or similar) or add-ons that connect to the internet and/or share bandwidth.

If the steps above doesn't fix your issue please perform a trace route which can identify where the connection problems are occurring, and send the logs to us.

To get your Trace Route:

1. While logged into SWTOR, to press Alt+Tab ⇆ together:
2. Then gather the IP information:
a. Press Windows Key + R, enter ‘cmd’ and press Enter (a Command Console window should appear)
b. Type the following into the Command Window that appears:
netstat -n -p tcp -b | more
c. You will see a line like this one (depending on SWTOR):
i. TCP XXX.XX.XX.XX:***** YY.YYY.YYY.YY:**** ESTABLISHED ZZZZ [swtor.exe]
ii. The X is your local IP address.
iii. The Y is the address of the server you are connecting to.
iv. The 4 digit numbers, represented by *'s in both cases, indicate the port used.
v. The Z is the process id for SWTOR on your computer.
d. There will be two (or more) entries for the [swtor.exe] application;
e. There are currently two possible port ranges while the game is running: 12000-12999 20000-29999

*Please note that the port ranges may change from time to time.

3. To get the information from their connection, in the same command window, type in:
a. tracert YY.YYY.YYY.YY > C:\tracert.txt
b. Using the IP address denoted above with YY.YYY.YYY.YY Make sure that you perform the command without the appropriate port number that has been found in Step 2.
c. A file will be created on your local drive (C:\) called tracert.txt which will contain the trace route information.
Procedure:
d. Please wait while the command finishes (this can take several minutes). Once you have returned to the command window, this signifies that the command is finished.

Please attach the log file to your email response and send it to support@swtor.com

I apologize for the inconvenience that this issue has caused you and for the overly long procedure I have stated, but this is really necessary for us to investigate and resolve the issue.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again if there is anything further we can help you with.

Sincerely,

If you're going to make me jump through your hoops and submit things in certain ways, at least have the decency to read it and use a brain cell or two. You pull stunts like this all the time and you wonder why people get arsey with you.
