TOR's graphics just reminded me of wow, cartoon network looking.
I beta tested TSW, while it did have nice looking graphics and it played smooth on my machine with Dx11 and maxed settings, I donot think it looked any better than Rift. And TOR's char modeling for the faces esp is much better.
Trust is something which is earned.

Yeah I agree that the CC is pretty lack luster esp females. They claim that they are going to overhaul that soon (think BW said the same thing at launch heh). But ill take the sloppy CC playing 100 vs 100 at 40 fps pvp. Just wish TOR could handle that kinda pvp.

Frankly, even the best graphics in the world in going to help if the game doesn't have a good art direction and style. I personally think this game pulls off art direction quite well.

For me the graphics in this game is wonderful. I've played mmo's since 2003 and I find the level of detail in this game to be better than anything I've seen. Of course I have not played any of the asian games. Here is a couple of images of my gunslinger. I can't get over how well they have recreated the eyes on the models.

(with environments of correlia which are much better after 1.3)

Now here are a couple of my Jug on Narshadda

I happen to be one of those that love the graphics.
CE For SWTOR and lovin it!

Rift should be in here, it had some nice graphics with great shadows and lighting.
SWTOR is above average.
Agreed. Also don't forget LOTRO - whilst I dislike the way the player character and NPCs look the landscapes still stand out as some of the best I've ever seen in any online game.

I have the best PC in my guild, and I can't do DX11. Not as many people can do it, is the reason they went with DX9, although making it dual-compatible would have been nice. Still, it looks excellent for DX9:

Here's some screenies I took yesterday:

On my ship. XS FTW!
Voss Arrival
Voss-Ka taxi
Voss Countryside in "Very High" goodness
Texture, lighting and shadow on a Vorantikus
And from the other side - As you can see from the last two, especially, the textures and lighting in this game are actually very good. I think any perceived lack of texture is actually a dislike of the art style, which is NOT GRAPHICS.

Texture and lighting on my character
Urban landscape, Coronet City, Corellia

No, there's nothing wrong with the graphics in this game. I think the problem some people have, once again, is the art style.
Allix Crowe - Vanguard Trooper -/- Ethavan Crowe - Smuggler Gunslinger -/- Malrath Crowe - Powertech Bounty Hunter -/- Boslo - Jedi Knight Sentinel -/- Jiao-gen Pall - Jedi Knight Guardian -/- Landen Tanarr - Jedi Consular Sage -/- Vaelyth Kinti-kaar- Sith Warrior Juggernaut -/- Oteln'erose'thu - Imperial Agent Sniper -/- Zandur Tuum - Cathar Knight

obviously you never played Lord of the Rings if you want to compare graphics of Tor to the likes of Eq2/Vanguard/aion look no further IMO Lotro sets the mark for high rez graphics. I would put Tera a close second or could be first with graphics. For the games like vanguard they do have graphics but demand a high price from old computer who probably could not even run the full graphics settings. Now I may be a little crazy but Tor did something to graphics before live launch in Beta the graphics were 100 times better then they are now much more detail on armor evniroment flow of game

Tsk you can't be serious.

First the shadows looks like over 15 years old ones, even in your pics. Ex: check the ship engine shadows.

Then they had to reduce the draw distance so much that you actually see the grass growing around you when moving. That's why contrary to other MMO we don't have a draw distance slider yet.

There's also the environments that are quite low poly if you ask. And yet all that doesn't run smoothly.

Too many of the textures bleed on the edges and don't even fit well the underlying meshes. Guess you did not notice all the textures that are off the collars, buttons, belts, shoulder pads and so on.

There's also quite a lot textures that are really wrong or simply ugly. Ex the senator robes on Coruscant.

Finally don't forget how much gear would fit more alien vs predator, GI-JOE, AoC, Rift, WoW, Call of Cthulhu than a SW setting.

All in all SWTOR graphics aren't that bad but their are far from that good. The most annoying thing is they wanted to overdo too many things. Tuned down the graphics design would be much better. Starting with less heroic body proportions.

Soooo... like I said, there's nothing WRONG with the current graphics. You act like I said they were "cutting edge", or something...

Bottom line is that there is plenty of eye candy in this game to be enjoyable. I actually have trouble seeing things if there's too much detail, like Skyrim. I miss stuff all the time.

Skyrim is an example of taking it too far. Which is kinda cool that graphics have now gotten to the point of "too far".
