I know they cannot reply to everything, but replying to more than just server closures, at least one or two threads would be nice. All I see in the Dev Tracker is just posts about maintenance, Q&A, server's down, and "we are working on it" with the chat bug.

Well you'd think their website that they control would be first, because facebook and twitter are third party programs that not everyone can/will use. Yet, we can be sure that everyone CAN use this website.

As long as the TW and FB pages are not part of the swtor.com domain, then I do not consider them to be official. They require different accounts and are hosted by another company, not Bio/EA.

It would be like them communicating via an "official" TS channel or other third party instant messaging software.
As long as they have "swtor.com/community", then they should use that as the primary communication method.

If TW and FB are that important then disable the forums. Otherwise the official website must be used as the main method of communication between the players and the devs.
They are using multiple methods of communication to reach the fan base. Every MMO seems to have people complaining about communication problems with developers.....no matter how hard they try to communicate with their fans.

Is it written somewhere that they MUST use the forum to comunicate? They could choose not to tell you anything at all if they wanted to. Calm down. It's just a game. If there are things you don't like about it to this extent, don't play it. They aren't forcing you

Honestly if you see how other developing teams communicate it is just very disappointing.

In the run up to the release of Mists if you check their 'blues' posts, Ghostcrawler posts etc. it's just so noticeable. They engage and answer even the most complicated questions, detailed information on class changes, with new posts on almost a daily basis.

They'd never tell you to go read an interview on a 3rd party site for information. Sadly Blizzard are light years ahead of what we get from this development team. No idea why. It is one of the first things I would change if they put me in charge that's for sure.

Before 1.3 with major changes to classes the PTS forum was loaded with serious topics, questions, feedback of every kind, and no one bothered to answer a single thread, or engage any of the people pointing out valid concerns. The silence unfortunately speaks volumes, and leaves the observer with the feeling that there's just something fundamentally wrong in their approach. That's my opinion.

This is not a new trend. Read this blog about the general retreat from the gaming community.

And many prefer their twitter feed and FB page as they have apps on their phones and addons on their browser that allow for ease of access without having to sift through the fecal matter that posters smear on these boards.

twitter is also better designed for direct feedback. Why use a lesser set up like forums when you could use a more streamlined system?
Ganking leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to pvp.
The Swtor forum attracts trolls because the forums are more fun than raiding dragon soul.
Complaining is the new meta game.

Lets make up rules as to whats official or not.

Okay, so if the lettering isn't size 10, times new roman, and hot pink... IT'S NOT OFFICIAL IN MY BOOK!

There is nothing wrong with using multiple methods of communication.
But when you get to use the third party websites more than your official website, then something is wrong.
The only times they post on the website is when they have an announcement to make, or when a mod closes a thread. But if you look at the TW and FB pages, they are constantly being updated and there are many replies.
Again, no problem in using different methods, but they should consider the main website a priority, not third party instant messaging websites.

What the heck is wrong with "calm down it's just a game" nonsense? Yes it is a game, a game I payed 60$ for and 15$ a month afterwards. It is a product and I expect that they would treat it as one, just as they are considering me to be a customer first and gamer second.

Because not everyone has a twitter account. I do have a Swtor account though. Which should be the way they communicate with us!
