Widespread power outages = subscription credit?

I'm in central ohio. In my county we had almost 600,000 outages, if I recall correctly.

I was out of action from Friday until just now. And as angry as I am that I had to sleep drenched in sweat in a dank, sauna-like house every night, and as angry as I am that about 75% of my neighborhood had power the whole time, it still could have been a lot worse. Some people won't be up until the weekend.

I missed out on several days of play time. I also missed out on the perishable groceries I purchased literally 4 hours before the storm knocked us out. I watched all my beautiful lunchmeat, ice cream, milk, eggs, mayo, cheese, etc that I bought that same day go bad and need to be thrown out. All the meat I had in my freezer had to be thrown out. In some situations I'd be able to take the food to a friend or family's house to keep it, but no one had power.

So, I'm upset that I missed almost 5 days of play time, but I'm more upset about my groceries. The moral? Life sucks, and no one's gonna reimburse anyone for anything. Not the electric company, not the grocery, and not bioware.

Not even next to nothing. Chances are non existant. Yes it sucks when stuff like that happens but the world does not revolve around you (OP) and you are owed nothing for your troubles.
Dear BW,
Please nerf paper and buff rock. Scissors is fine as is.

It's probably stated somewhere in SWTOR's terms of service that Bioware won't do this sort of thing, but I think it would be a show of good faith to credit any affected accounts (those with active subscriptions from Eastern areas that haven't logged in since Friday evening) with at least a few days of game time. I realize that this is a bit much to ask, however I and a great many other players would certainly appreciate it.
Is this high-end trolling?

So they should cover "acts of God" that effect both themselves and you? It would be a good show of faith to just send a check and some hot pockets in the mail so you can sit at home trying to leech off others.

Watching the news right now, I'm hearing reports of power outages. I don't think he is trolling, but I don't think this issue is that severe as hurricans or tornadoes.

Some words from a person that lives in an area that went through three years of near flooding in the upper midwest. (I've earned my degree in sandbagging).. Generators today are a great investment. You'll probably never use it if you buy it, but I bought mine during year one to keep my sump pumps up and running. At the time I decided to buy one big enough to keep the freezer going as well.

I do a lot of hunting and the amount of perishable meat that would be lost would seriously upset me. I have never had to use it , but it makes me happy knowing that it is there.

While this is a nice thought, a power outage is not within SWTOR's control whereas us Australasia players have suffered 5 days without play time due to the unscheduled maintenance, and an extra 2 with scheduled which is certainly within their control and have yet to be subsidized, so I believe your chances are next to 0.

Generators require constant maintenance. If you never used it, chances are it won't work when you need it.

I bought one myself when there was a flood where I live. I had it running for a couple of days without a glitch. But after that, I had to start it every week so it would keep working. Some months later, I couldn't be bothered anymore. Some years later, another flood and the generator wouldn't start.

Next time I'll just rent one, even if I have to pay a premium price for it and/or have to bring one from another town.

Basically it's going to boil down to whether or not BW feels like being nice. Since EA now owns them, I wouldn't hold my breath lol.
Edited because the devs appear to have fixed at least 80% of the crap that was pissing me off.

while it would be a nice gesture, you shouldn't expect it. and coming into a MMO forum asking for a refund is just food for people who want to troll you

I do not live in the storm areas.

I support the idea of a good faith subscription credit for people who through no fault of their own are losing many hours/days of play.

As a game, SWTOR could use some good will press coverage.
