the engine they're using is small , and a total replacement is easily possible.

3D space combat OF SOME KIND would definitely be very popular ,and thus very likely if their aim is to retain subscribers or get new subscribers. But that doesn't mean the go anywhere travel all the way from one planet to another 3d space that some people are hoping for. There's a lot of 3d shooters out there where the maps have edges and if you go off the edge the game ends. I think that is more likely.

Speaking player housing (which would be in ships in our case) when are we going to furnish our ships and hang trophies on the walls ?
Survey says : need more story....but we already have more story than anyone else ! ... too bad. need more story.

I wouldn't say "never"...
If I recall correctly Bioware purchased the Hero Engine when it was still in its development phase, if this is the case then the engine they are using isn't a true Hero Engine and is far less powerful. This would explain why Ilium PVP could barely even manage 40vs40 as posted above by Goretzu while the Hero Engine is documented as being able to handle 200vs200.

It's been real but the game just wasn't worth the sub for me anymore.

Exactly. That's why I said earlier that building the 200v200 capability into the current engine shouldn't be too difficult.

Look, Bio has allready proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that they have no idea what they are doing when it comes to pvp. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada......................

So even if they were to implement space pvp, it would be an Ilum like horror story. So, moral of the story? Don't get your hopes up period.

If you still hope that Bio will do anything close to industry standard regarding pvp, your myopic..............

If they do add something like open space, it will end up being just like ground pounding. Tab target with action bars for the people who have no idea how to use a joystick.

I'd be happy with XWing Alliance style controls/maps combined with storytelling, but it will never happen.

I doubt they even get the Star Wars space physics right, if they add anything worthwhile at all.

Yep, I have zero reason to be positive about anything this company does.

Oh, I wouldn't say that. The warzones in this game are obviously a hit, according to the numbers at the Guild Summit. Far more people who don't normally PvP in other MMOs have tried, and liked, the Warzones.

They'd have to deal with the inconsistencies with the current engine, yes. I doubt they'd repeat Ilum in any form. If anything can be said of BioWare's mistakes, it's that they don't usually repeat them.

im really hoping its 3D free roam space, and they just fizzle out the space missions over time or just keep them as a side thing like they are now.

Is this thread really about why there is no news on something secret? Lol

I'm pretty sure telling you it's secret is the news. Another top 10 thread.
That's why they call it space, cause there is so much of it.

That doesn't show pvp support prowess. Thats absurd. The FACTS support SWTOR PVP devs have little clue when trying to implement a pvp base OTHER THEN warzones. Period.......

So, the logical conclusion is even if space pvp were opened, it would be spectacularly average, or beyond bad. You pick..............

Bio has shown they have zero ability in the pvp dept. Having warzones is something any lol devs can do........
Actually, if you want to get into the "facts"...

The majority of the SW:TOR PvP developers were brought over from Mythic, which was merged with BioWare a few years ago bu EA. Mythic was the developer of WAR, a game that provided absolutely spectacular open world PvP (although the game director, who is no longer a part of the company, had no clear direction for endgame, hence the failure of the game).

Unfortunately, when attempting to bring that style of gameplay to a futuristic setting, they slipped up. Pretty badly. And they've admitted this. But that doesn't change the fact that their team is extremely experienced in PvP, both instanced and in the open world. That is a "FACT," as you put it.

Quite frankly, if they decided to throw in "keeps" with a Star Wars flair, instead of open (and boring) objectives, and allowed them to be claimed by guilds, we wouldn't be having this conversation. They tried to change too much - this is where they failed. If they had stuck to what they knew, open world PvP would be absolutely thriving.
