How is this game doing?

Removing posts by paying customers is a bad idea unless the posts contain serious infractions. unless you want even more players to leave the game and everyone can merge to just one server...if the game is still up at all.
I've had several threads deleted that weren't against tos. If I didn't enjoy the game as much as I do, I probably would've quit on the spot.
So what your saying is because you pay £8.99 in American currency every month you are entitled to do what ever you want?

BW own the game and these forums. They allow you to play the game if you pay the monthly sub. You have absolutly no right to say how they run it.

Oh op the games doing great do yourself a favour and play it instead of reading the toilet on these forums and make your own mind up.

Companies that don't listen to their customers rarely do well.

If I were an EA accountant I'd be interested in getting the 1,500,000 or so that bought the game, tried the game and left the game back.

But then if I were an EA accountant I'd have understood that we'd make more money releasing a more finished game than we would pushing a game out for Xmas.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

TOR is picking back up, aside from some new bugs from 1.3 TOR is doing pretty good. Just don't power grind through the game or you will have less to do.
I admire your optimism for sure.. but to say it picking back up just because your seeing more people on your fleet etc.. doesnt unfortunately mean its getting better - it simply means the numbers have be re-assigned.
Game performance is still an issue, especially with increased numbers in any one area.
Transfers have indeed created more activity on the destination servers.. but time will tell if the subs have picked up, stabilised or continued to decline... drum roll next Quarterly report...

But yes more players are grouping than before.. even world boss groups are happening and that's a positive, hopefully its not just a temporary surge of activity after the transfers... next comes the chargeable elements for those that were restricted from bringing there toons together after their dead servers kinda forced them to reroll elsewhaere long before server transfers were announced... and from what I see hear and try, group finder is such a tiresome tool and nothing more than a random pre-made generator, based on Wz queing... not what I would call a proper LFM tool where a group leader can form a group for whatever quest/raid/flashpoint/heroic etc and decide what classes they want, the lvl range and applicant inspection (not essential).. but at least its a start I guess.

@OP - If you're looking for earth shattering changes from when you were previously playing - then no.

Free server transfers

The server merges have had (I assume) a positive impact on PvP. Queued WZ's have a much bigger pool of players to pull from. I don't PvP, so that is just an assumption on my part. I'm not sure to what effect the large populations are having on. World PvP should be up in theory. Again, I'm on a PvE server - so dunno.

For PvE players, the larger pool of available players means easier guild recruitment. Plus better chances for being able to do Flashpoints, especially at non-peak times. For raider teams missing a person at a key moment, there lots of players online on fleet around raid start times. That's not to say it's easy to find someone... more people = more people AFK or doing something else.

On the downside... More people = more idiots, with a larger crowd to hide in. General chat is more vibrant, but if you have a low tolerance for people dicking around - you're probably going to switch general chat off pretty quickly. Add to that people spamming guild recruitment messages and who forget there is a dedicated /trade channel... As I say more "vibrant".

Patch 1.3

Rank warzones... Either that matters to you a lot. Or not at all.

"Looking for Group"... If you were the sort of person who was didn't want to talk to people and just wanted to hit a button in order to do Flashpoints, the the LFG tool has arrived. It's buggy, but that will pass. Combined with the large server populations, it's a step in the "less social, but more instant gratification" direction. Needless to say, the ninja looting and votekick drama has already started.

If you were already in a large friendly guild or small tight-knit group of friends. The LFG tool is going to make very little difference to your gaming experience.

Next we got "per character" legacy bonuses. Mostly convenience stuff that doesn't feel very "legacy". Just a cash sink for impatient people. Stuff looks relatively cheap until you multiply the numbers by 7 (the number of potential characters you could use them on). Some of the perks *might* be worth the credits, sometimes.

Finally, we got another new cash sink, in the shape of Augment Slots (MK1 thru MK6). Nothing of real consequence, but currently a hot topic.

Misc.

Everything else is pretty much the same. There are calls for this feature and that feature. People who want more content. People who see evidence of decline everywhere. And the vast silent majority who are just getting on, playing the game.

This line intentionally left blank

Only month or two ago future of swtor didn't look to bright due lack of players. However server transfers and ranked warzones brought alot of pro players back (from diablo) and made the game blossom again. Definately best mmo game at the moment and there's loads of stuff to do for pvp:ers and pve:ers aswell. Also leveling an alt is now interesting since there's loads of other ppl leveling characters aswell.. meaning you can actually find groups easily.

Heh! It all depends on what you mean by "how is this game doing?"

Do you mean, "is it fun to play?" If so, then my answer is heck yes!

Do you mean, "what are subscriber numbers like?" If so, then nobody knows for sure and really, why does it matter? As long as there are "enough" subs for BW/EA to support the game, then rock on.

The transfers went great! Almost everyone has transferred over to the destination servers. (The destination servers have statuses above light, the origin servers have statuses that are only light www.torstatus.net).

My server feels great! WZs are popular and queue quickly, the markets are booming, and guilds are finding recruits.

The transfers went great! Almost everyone has transferred over to the destination servers... well those that were lucky enough to be able to unite all their toons on the destination server anyway (The destination servers have statuses above light, the origin servers have statuses that are only light www.torstatus.net). and the game performance has nosedived with the increased numbers of player hiving round the flashpoint terminals, the PVP queuiong area and the GTN.

My server feels great!, heavily FPS lagged, but great .. WZs are popular and queue quickly even with the amount of FPS lag issues across the board, the markets are booming, and guilds are finding they have nothing better to do than repeatedly spam general chat as they become more and more desperate to recruit anyone and everyone.....

Incorrect, sir. I gave an honest accounting of MY experience. I'm the GL of a 100+ person guild, and while 99% of those people would rather die than deal with SWTOR forums, we're having fun, as evidenced by the fact that we're enjoying playing this game.

*Your* experience may be different, but you didn't "fix" my post at all.

I tend to think the WoW situation is much worse, because Blizzard had everything and threw it away.
