Rail Shot by far. It can not be kited, and can be hit twice within seconds unlike smash. There is also no build up to it.

1) Rail Shot requires a burning or incapacitated target.
2) 6 sec cooldown was implemented in 1.2

Smash does much higher damage and capable of hitting multiple targets.

It is completely wrong info like this that people want nerfs based on

There is a build up you have to be taking periodic damage or incapacitated. Then once it is used it has a 15 second timer, if talented that you can try to reset every six seconds, then if you do reset it you still have to be taking periodic damage or incapacitated to have it hit you. Also our Flame Burst only applies the periodic damage every 6 seconds so we have to use our highest heat attack to make sure you are going to take periodic damage to even use it again.

A burning target is not a hard thing to do though... I'm not arguing the original post for either side. Both are deadly moves but I can't say I worry about one more than the other. Anyways, to my point...

Rail shot is not tough to proc if you play it right... there are so many way to make it available. I feel like I'm popping rail shot almost every 5 seconds. hit em with the missle, rail shot, close gap, flame burst, rail shot (no proc?), rocket punch, rail shot... flame burst... (no proc?) exploding dart, oh my CD is done... rail shot. rinse, lather and repeat.

It really seems like a lot of PT's are not taking advantage of this system. I would love to see the number of rail shots I throw out in a game compared to others. Especially with all the FOTM BH's I see running around.

Oh come now.... it is not hard at all to make sure the target is burning.

Even your regular shots have an incredibly high chance to burn the target.

Saying Railshot needs to be talented to 6 seconds is like saying Force Speed needs to be talented to break root. It might be true in theory but I don't know if anyone who runs a Pyro without the Railshot talents just like no Assassins play without Disjunctino unless they're 31 deep in Madness/Deception.

The 'enemy is burning' part isn't exactly hard to fulfill. Other people's dots count, too.

Oh come on now ... who said it was hard? What in the entire game is hard you are pushing buttons?

I am simply pointing out that buring is a setup, since my comment was directly to the person who said there wasn't a setup for it.

You mean that burning that all your attacks auto apply? Smash might hit a tad harder, but it's also on a longer cooldown and has to be setup and is melee range. Railshot is easily worse and harder to avoid. I'm glad you pointed out the 6 seconds cooldown because having a nuke that hits that hard with that short of a cooldown is way better than a lot of other classes.

You forgot the part where it can be proc'd by a couple other abilities for a shorter CD. Personally my favorite part of my Pyrotech....
