Staying out of this argument, except to correct one mistaken statement here which is relevant.

That 95% Acc is only relevant to the basic attack. Every other melee/ranged attack for every class is flagged "Special" and gets a hidden 10% Accuracy buff. Including every other white damage attack, such as Rail Shot.

So the effective accuracy is 105%, which means you'll be at cap on everyone who doesn't have some sort of buff to Defense Rating.

Errr nope. Railshot is weapon damage, classified as ranged attack so it is rolled in the first category. Or you hand me a dev post stating otherwise

*edit* I stand corrected till I have read the torhead section about the isspecial flag

*edit2* Mh, didn't know about the isspecial flag- thanks for pointing that out! Though I have to wonder how often it is still deflected than.

[QUOTE=-Yui-;4760899]Well, he does have a point there. I play sentinel/mara, and if a good pyro gets the jump me, there's not much I can do other than hope my cds are up and that obfuscate manages to make the pyro miss one or two railshots. Even then, its a straight-up dps race - often times it goes down to who gets the lucky crits or if my gbtf is up.[/QUOTE

I am pre 50 and last night I had a sentinel all over me. So I figured if he wants to single me out I'll return the favor. Honestly unless he had help he didn't have a chance. Doesn't mean I am a great player. I just know a bit about the class and the class is pretty good for PvP. I usually don't do that due to being committed to the team objectives but the guy wouldn't leave me alone.
Mal: That's the buffet table.
Kaylee: Well, how can we be sure, u-unless we question it?

Pyrotech rail shot is vastly more dangerous than jug smash. Even before jug smash was nerfed.

Also. Pyrotechs have better survivability than DPS juggs.

-ignores sub 50 pvp part as irrelevant and thus all subsequent data pointless-

if a sentinel is losing to a pyro either they aren't the proper spec to be 1v1ing or they're trying to take down a pyro WITH cooldowns when the sentinel doesnt have their cooldowns up.

Just a point here. When I see a PT ramping up for his RS I pop Obfuscate on him. I hear the RS go off but it inflicts 0 dmg coz it missed.

Are people saying they are so bad at playing a PT they can't reliably get Railshots off?

It's not anywhere close to the hardest hitting ability in the game but that's because you can reliably get it off every 6 or so seconds. A consistent attack with no real way to avoid it is better than a stronger attacks that takes longer to setup and can usually be seen from a mile away.

As a Juggernaut tank, smash is more annoying by far. "Healer is about to be bursted - Intercede! - ...darnit..." If they have multiple smashes, I basically have to try to stay between 10-15m from my guard target, and it's not easy doing melee damage in that window.
