Am I the only one NOT using Legacy?

Buffs are nice, And the ability to mail things to your other characters regardless of faction, and some of the legacy gear....rest is sort of megh if you dont want the money sent that way

now mind you , remember that there are a few quality of life things, even if they are sort of costly, such as the coming stacking XP bonuses and what not

when it comes to the tree as others have stated you have the ability to set people as just friends or allies , and or rivals no need to make them family

as for the whole " having the heroic moment abilities"

that really is something you can utterly ignore as if it never happens if it's that important to you, just because it's in your (ooc) power list in no way means your characters have the ability and choose not to use it, you as a player can choose to ignore it, thus it never enters IC.

that and it's all listed under " legacy abilities" so if it's that big of a deal, again you can simply just ignore that tab.

Personally it works for me, and I can't count how many times my IA- or other characters has been spared at the lest second in a boss fight by lightning storm or force wave

so long story short; yeah its sort of a money sink in some ways, practical in others...but at the end of the day ignoring it completely will be more of a hindrance than not - more so with whats being added in 1.3
Sorry, I'm old and can only read complete words.

Also, I made up different stories for each character, and most of them are NOT related. Some of them aren't force users, and giving them force-using powers would pretty much ruin the "story" I have made up for them.

So, I'm not interested in Legacy. My stupid little "map of the state of Ohio" at the top keeps pulsing at me. Is there a way to turn that off, other than creating a Legacy?

And am I the only person out there NOT using legacy?
I despise the legacy family tree as currently designed, for the reasons you have outlined. I also greatly dislike that it has a hidden functionality mentioned explicitly nowhere---specifically, if you want to move mail between characters on different factions, you must first place them both in the family tree.

The update 1.2 legacy system annoys me because it is a blatant money sink. I'm looking forward to 1.3, however, as it has tangible benefits finally.

I'm not sure I get the mail thing - I can already mail anything to any of the toons on my server, Republic or Imperial. Legacy doesn't affect this, does it? I've heard it sort of puts your alts in as "contacts", which saves you some keystrokes, but does it do anything else?

I'm not really worried about the XP. I'm leveling fast enough as it is. I go out of my way to spend as little time in cantinas and such. Of course, if you play a lot of alts, you can't help but be rested anyway. I don't need an XP bonus.

And I really see your point about the IA. That's one of my main problems with it. As I said, in my "background story" my characters DON'T HAVE these abilities. Having them but not using them would be a different thing. It doesn't sound like much, but it's in the game too. Like you said, there will be many times where I'll die, and I would also be having it but not using it, and suffering for it. Same thing.

Well I hope you at least made the Legacy name ... otherwise youre just gimping yourself and missing out on nice perks. /shrug ... to each his own.

Having the legacy skills in your skill book is one of the dumbest reasons not to pick up legacy.
Like I said earlier, I see very little reason to pick up legacy at all. It makes me give up something I want (any semblance of sticking to lore and my own character's story) to give up something I don't want (buffs I don't want, a family tree I don't want, an XP bonus I don't want, and items I don't want).

It would be cool if it wasn't such a stupidly expensive thing to use. Its to enhance your experience, but it makes mine worse. Now I have to grind a ton of missions to get money to unlock email?

Where is the enhanced experience in that? You want me to feel a sense of connection to the characters and story then you cannot make it painful to engage in. I literally hate the thing right now.

Yeah, I can see how some people would want all the legacy perks. I just don't, and in starting this thread I was just interested in seeing if anybody else didn't want them either, and for what reasons.

well thats sort of what I was getting at is while it works for me and my stories it may not for you...however I think the big difference here is that when I press P or open any of my other windows I'm OOC and not IC, like taking time to update a character sheet and what not and separate anything and everything management wise from the IC side of things...because " having it and not using it " etc as you put " which I do understand what you mean by it" sort of falls to the side slightly anyway because we tend to accumulate crap we never really touch anyway even outside of the legacy system....and the 1.3 updates are much more than just the xp buffs, that was just an example but what it's still saying is that ignoring it is actually becoming increasingly detrimental to characters than not.

Okay, I'm still not getting the e-mail thing. I don't have Legacy, and can already mail anything to anybody (my Rep toons mail stuff to my Imp toons all the time). Does it go across servers, or what?
