Left\Right is always from the perspective of your spawn point... period. If you do it differently then you're doing it wrong. For people who are recently spawning, or waiting to get out of spawn point, knowing to go left or right to provide the best support is the easiest way to communicate.

*Edit* To clarify, I'm not saying left\right is better than East\West - Use your preference, they both make sense as long as Left\Right is used in the above manner. Snow\Grass is stupid, I agree with original poster.

This has got to be the most asinine thread on the forums.

Regardless of your bird like sensitivity to magnetic lines to determine directions, it is FAR EASIER to identify locations descriptively for most people. Anyone with girlfriends/wives should know this.

When I go out to meet people at a restaurant, do you say go to the McDonald's east of your location? Or are you much more likely to say go the McDonald's by the Costco near the mall?

Seriously, if it is a known static location, who the hell describes anything as being east or west? You describe it descriptively. Which is less confusing?

"Meet me at the east most point of the park."

or

"Meet me by the basketball courts at the park."

Snow and Grass LOOK DIFFERENT. That's why it's snow and grass. Before you jump off the LZ it should be obvious what you are looking at if you've played a couple of CV's. One is ALL SNOW. The other is 90% grass and rocks.

Do the people on the forums even play the damn game? You do realize that snow and grass is used by like 99% of the player base and no one I've played with have a problem with it. Are you trying to argue just for arguments sake?

You don't pug much do you?
Some have a hard enough time even knowing what mini map is, or reading chat... So when you call out "inc snow 5" they decide to try to solo cap the point where 2 people are guarding.

and on the topic of "visuals"...
1- you can -SEE- all players health bars, and casting bars... not sure if everyone knows that.
2- loading screen tips tells you how to play the warzone.

I gave up trying to tell others awhile ago....it's pointless. We'll always have those who have some sort of IQ who will yell "West" or "East" and those who are somehow still alive in this world with no apparent brain.

I say "3 west"

they say "which way is that"

I say "............snow"

they say "oh ok, why didnt you just say snow, omw."

snow/grass speaks to the masses.. and by masses i mean idiots. they are out there, and i would rather say snow or grass then to attempt to use east/west or left/right because people are for lack of a better word just dumb.

When i call out i want my cannon fodder to arrive ASAP, not explain directions to the challenged.

Good points bangkokbetty. Pretty clearly stated how human memory for locations and directions works.

I was in the military for a bit over 7 years, you can imagine we often looked at maps and used North/South/East/West as well as azimuth's in degrees to communicate directions. Even after using it for years I still feel it's a second or so slower for me to orient by east/west as opposed to grass snow, or even left right. Sure I can do both, but it's slightly faster than east/west.

When a new player does not know what grass/snow means they probably don't know that they need to be reinforced either, I doubt new players even read chat during warzones. After a game or 2 everyone gets a pretty clear concept of grass/snow.

Also wanted to mention that my guild uses grass/snow for alderaan, left right from spawn for voidstar. Never had any problems with people understanding us.

so in void star for example to make things easier you call the door on the right of the map

RIGHT (when attacking) at the same time you call the door on the right of the map
LEFT when defending (the exact same door?)

imo east west is good, snow grass is good, right left is stupid
