Bioware planning a third faction?

I have had this gut feeling recently that Bioware is working on a third faction. Judging by what they are doing with the Hutts, the new planet Makeb and the Hutts taking over the GTN, I believe a neutral third faction is on the way.

Running through Nar Shadda, I can't help but get this feeling even more.....

So Wookies, Ewoks, Jawas, Hutts and more humans are all possibnle races AND if this turns out to be true it will probably be part of an expansion.....

How many feel this is possible, likely and would welcome a third "neutral faction"??

Playable third faction? I'd be surprised - WoW doesn't have that, last I checked.

Third Faction? Yes
Playable? No

I'm betting on more of a PvPvE environment for Makeb.

That would break away from being a WoW clone, so I highly doubt there would be a third faction.... After all that would make Bioware kind of original and we know there not that...

SWTOR is by the book 100% theme park..... doubt that will ever change..

Possible, not probable.

It's possible, yeah. Star Wars: Empire at War (and that was a fun game, I don't care what people say) added a third faction with the "Forces of Corruption" expansion. Basically they were just space pirates, but applying it to this lore can actually make sense. It could add a bit of story depth to the different pirate factions that you see on a couple of the planets now (Tattooine: Twin Suns, Hoth: White Maw, Taris: Death's Claw) in how they got to where they are, where they sit within the unknown hierarchial system of the Hutt Cartel, and all that jazz. Would give the players that want some true neutrality, without adhering to the laws and regulations of either the Empire or the Republic (so to speak).

I guess you haven't heard of TES Online with it's 3 faction system. On a serious note though, I highly doubt that they are making a 3rd faction, or even considering it. This would just divide the playerbase even more, possibly reviving the "ghost server, no1 to play with" issues.

These "signs" the OP has seen I see as mere lore reasons to implement changes more than anything.

I think you should change the title, as it's a bit misleading at present.

There's no evidence to suggest they're doing this other than your gut feeling. I'm not saying you're wrong, but the title implies fact rather than a question or idea.

Perhaps change it to:

Bioware planning a third faction?
or
WIll Bioware implement a third faction?

In any case, I would hope that this would be quite a way down the line. There are lots of other things that need development time to get implemented first (including same gender romances, hood toggles, companion colour unify and hide head slot, more character slots, more story on new worlds, etc.)

If they make a 'playable third faction' it'll be akin to monster play in LOTOR:O and not in the manner that many seem to hope for.
And that's still a pretty huge if.
