Can we, as a community, eliminate the "Grass" and "Snow" in Alderaan?

Granted, this all *should* happen in a matter of nano-seconds.

What made grass / snow alright by me was the people who get confused and can't remember east from west. Reinforcements don't come and nodes get capped. When a person types snow and grass and the average pub sees it there is a split second where a picture of grass/snow flashes in the conscious and subconscious mind. People then know without any hesitation exactly what is meant. While I don't enjoy grass/snow I do enjoy winning. So I'll keep doing what is necessary to facilitate victory - that is to call it grass / snow.

Hell, even I've gotten confused a time or two and said east when I meant west or vice versa.
This is just crazy.
Look if you get in ANY WAR ZONE look at the MINI MAP and LEFT and RIGHT are ALWAYS the same for the party.
This means when I say left no matter where you are on the map if you just turn left and go to the side it is done.
Same when someone says right just go right.
Really this Snow / Grass crap was started by the not so bright. Look at the freaking map please! LEFT OR RIGHT!

EVERYONE HAS A LEFT AND RIGHT SO THAT IS MUCH MORE SIMPLE TO REMEMBER THEN THIS CRAP.

Personally, I think east/west > grass/snow > left/right

That being said, when I am fighting several people, I find it much simpler for my mind to register grass/snow over east west. Also, on imp side it is very common at the start of a warzone that if you tell someone to go east or west they will go the wrong way. Obviously the problems with grass/snow and left/right is that if you have been fighting at mid for awhile and have been turning every which direction you could possibly get mixed up on what direction you are facing and go the wrong way. However, with a valor 95 sorc and a valor 80 sentinel, this has never happened to me.

Ultimately, I don't really care what someone says. As long as it is reasonably intelligent and they say HOW MANY people there are. I hate when people say inc grass and the whole team goes over for just 1 guy.

I hope with 1.3 and ranked WZ's people will get -10.000 Warzone rating for not knowing where east/west is. It doesn't matter if you spend half of the Warzone doing circles; west will still be west and east will still be east.

I think we will all have a blast (or not) in 1.3.

You don't know why ? Let's imagine : you play in Alderaan as an Imp, so you're used to begin at North. Since East is your left and not your right, it can be a bit confusing, so you're used to call incs by using Grass/Snow.
But this time it is a Imp vs Imp Alderaan. So Grass and Snow are reverted. But no problem for you, you capped Snow, you know where you are.
Ennemy team is incoming, so you call "inc snow". That's clear for you. But let's imagine that one of your mates translates it in a left/right direction and not in a east/west. At the respawn, he will take a direction it's used to be Snow, but in fact because you don't have the usual respawn point, he goes Grass.
Same for the one that are used to call East/West but translate it in a left/right. Starting the other side will confuse them.

Only solution, always thinking East/West. You can call it Grass or Snow if you want but people who are thinking a "left/right" way will be lost.

I know, you can't do anything for these people who get lost and do not have a good sense for directions, but I personaly think that using multiple way to call things do not help them. Maybe if all of you use a single way to call directions, they'll be used to know where to go.
Since you must refer to the map when you're not on the side you're used to be, I would say West/East is clearer, it doesn't need any translation, just looking at the map gives you direction, whereas Grass/Snow needs to be translated into East/West before to look at the map.

If people don't want use East/West, I don't care, I know Snow is East, it's sufficient for me. But think to people who think the way "Snow is left" (for Imp), and they're numerous if we refer to the posts in this thread, they'll get lost when you will begin at South, and you may lost the whole scenario because of misleading them using Snow/Grass.

I think when 1.3 will realese tomorow, some player will be smart, and the use of West/East will increase.

Quoted for truth, and because no one even tried to refute him. (probably because he made a good point)

If the minimap does actually flip, I think that's stupid. However, even if east and west flip like grass and snow, they're still constants for both sides. East/west will always be the most useful thing to call for any scenario on any node-based map. Grass/snow only work well insofar as the people who use it know how the map is oriented, I.e. they know where east and west are. You can use grass/snow if you want, but there's really no need to do so.

Interesting.. I was just looking up some pics of the Alderaan Civil War map and it appears the map does flip. It's not only the minimap that flips, but the world map as well. The western turret for the Imps is east for the Reps.

It's going to be fun tomorrow night

The map does not flip. Couple random videos I just googled:

Imps point south when leaving spawn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRxNr_D-n_Q

Reps point north : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1_fzdbG1FI
