Overleveling

As a new player, I am grateful for the ability to over level the content. Even being a bit over leveled, it is difficult to kill the elites. When I do kill them, Khem Val is usually dead, and I have a sliver of health left even after a health stim. I'm sure that once I play more of the game and start up alts and get more credits, legacy perks/buffs, and better equipment other than what I've been able to loot or gain as quest rewards, the process will become much easier for me too. In the meantime though, I'm grateful to have options so that I don't get stuck unable to complete my quests.

Well just do the quests overlvl then? I like doing lots of flashpoints so I'm always overlvling the content a lot (my PT hasn't hit Tatooine yet at lvl29 near 30) doesn't mean I can't still do the content just very easily but not as if it was challenging in the first place. Just pace the content you do and you'll avoid overlvling by much, besides 1 flashpoint or space mission isn't going to cause you to overlvl so you can experience all the content and do all questss, doing all quests probably overlvl you anyway.

I do all the story quests and the planet side quests, very few heroic quests, but whenever I manage to find a group during my stay on the planet I'll do them. I don't do PvP, just a few instances (Black Talon when I finish the starter planet and then an instance or two along the way to 50). This way I never overlevel content, I actually fall behind when I get to Alderaan. (Talking as an Imperial).

The short answer is yes. The point of a journey is not to arrive.

The long answer is... The "level grinding" as you call it is 90% of what an MMO is. Most MMO subscribers will never PvP, never max level, and never Raid. Most of us just have fun levelling till we don't, and then we go elsewhere. This is a major, major misunderstanding of the MMO genre that Bioware has made.

This is the pattern of all previous MMO games.

In other games when you reach the point where solo-ing is no longer possible, you are forced into grouping situations. The result of this is that people get in groups and realize that playing as a team is far more fun and enjoyable than solo-ing. You can concentrate on what you specialize in. You can rely on other people to do what you can't. You can take on far more challenging and interesting fights, explore more dangerous areas, and generally do a lot more than you ever can alone. This is the pattern of all successful MMO's. Hook you with fun and then "force" you into becoming more involved and invested in the gameworld to progress any farther.

It is fine if a game makes it possible to solo your way to max level as an option but if solo-ing is more efficient, and more profitable then nobody ever groups and nobody ever gets hooked to the game longterm. People will not pay a subscription to play a solo game that has some multiplayer options. Never have and never will.

Disagree.

World of Warcraft: Never need to group in that game to reach the end game. People are paying subs. Your statement is false. This is the current SWTOR model. Don't see how you came up with this conclusion.

I believe that most fast levelers such as myself would prefer a way down to slow down our leveling process without hindering you guys that prefer to bypass certain quests and such.

In 1.3, they are adding character perks, one that increases exp gain for players in certain facets of the game. If they offered the same perk just in reverse, 30% exp reduction for certain leveling avenues I think it would greatly help us without slowing you down at all, since the code is already in the game to give 30% gains, I don't see why it would be all that hard to put in 30% reduction.

I've never played WoW, my gaming soul remains pure.

I've played many MMO's where it is possible to solo to max, but none till TOR that made solo-ing the easier and more productive way to level.

OK you didn't play WoW. But by being so "absolute" in your statements you are wrong again.

WoW is such an MMORPG.

SWG NGE was such an MMORPG.

MxO was such an MMORPG.

There have been multiple MMORPGs that have been trivial to solo to the end game. Again your statement is false.
