The weak minded will actually pretend criticism doesn't exist or try to silence it by using bogus post reporting, tantrum posts, or by insisting that only those who currently log in and play be allowed to post, but they are cowards and weaklings.
Spoken like a careless mole, especially the cowards and weaklings part. Though I agree with you that retaliating against retaliation is bad juju. Valid and descriptive criticism without drawing blood seems to be pretty much accepted in these forums by the core community. What isn't is hammering imperfections into fertilizer for the sake of spreading fertilizer.
Can we please just have our pre-KotFE SWTOR MMORPG back?

6 months later and they are on the way to making a great game, but its already too late. The bad reputation has already been earned, people have spread stories about how bad the game WAS. This is the same reason other MMOs like Warhammer and Rift have died. People quit due to launch issues and tell all of their friends how bad the game is, and that everyone is quitting. No one wants to play a broken and dead game.

If they want this game to go anywhere they need to fix all of the performance issues and release an expansion along with mass advertisement stating that the game has been improved and many features missing at launch have been added.
^ this this and this some more! i came back to find everything the way it was plus a little more content and a lot more bugs... after the jollies of watching people cry about merging with my server i got bored and uninstalled again. i will be reading the forums for giggles like always. just keep in mind i paid $15 to re-up my sub... not for the game... but for the forum PvP. one day the game may be playable or some one will make a playable MMO with STARWARS branded on the front minus the Crapp-ina-Box we got.

This is most MMO gamers today.

It's a lot better than it was in January. A lot of them moved on to other releases to spread the same nonsense and to provide their particular brand of "something in the punch bowl" complaining that seems to be the norm of today.

Don't get me wrong, there are some people who know how to provide criticism that is meant to help the game succeed but the vast majority of haters early on were just hating for the sake of it. Most of those guys have gone but you still have the odd straggler that didn't get the memo that the D3 forums are a lot more fun to troll (and there's not a 15 dollar fee per month.)

Believe it or not...it's getting better...
Stop exploding you cowards!

Because spending money does not equate to having a valid opinion that I care to hear. They may have some points but clean feedback is one thing, petulant whining is another.

And calling people cowards and weaklings is a bit over the top when speaking about a video game and a forum.

I currently and actively play 2 MMO's. One is using the highly successful Hybrid F2P model and the other is SW:tOR. I additionally, occasionally (read: in week long fits now and then) play 3+ other MMO's that are also using a F2P model of one sort or another.
My favourite by far is the model pioneered (AFAIK) by Turbine which gives the same access as a subscriber as long as you subscribe, plus a stipend of "points" or whatever per month to spend on the things that are in the store. Then there's the Premium players. People that have at one time paid a monthly sub or bought points. They get less than the paying customers, but more than the Freebs. Then the people that have never paid a dime. They are restricted, but can still buy points to unlock or purchase things.

An example would be if say SWtOR added Kashyyyk. Current subscribers would either just get the planet for free, or could purchase it using their stipend that they've been accumulating. If there's a race associated then maybe that's all they have to "buy" but the planet is free. Whatever. Everyone else has to buy it.

F2P w/MT can be done very well and very successfully. No company, (again AFAIK), has lost money by switching to a F2P model if they did it right and considered their current player base and how to reward their loyalty.

Do I hope SW:tOR goes F2P? I'm undecided, but the future is F2P with micro-transactions. Most previous games have or are switching to it. Most games scheduled for release are using that model for release. Even the elephant in the room has no scheduled updates once its presumed successor arrives.

Maybe. But the people that Galactic was referring to are not your average whiners. They post in every thread the same garbage, real or imagined (usually imagined, or at the very least, embellished beyond reality). So much so that their names become so synonymous with whining/mudslinging that few people can take them seriously anymore.

Not everyone who states a dislike of the game is a "hater". But not everyone who posts that they like the game is a "blind fanboi" either; these labels are thrown around way to nonchalantly.

Haha this is so true. Some of those threads crack me up whereas here there are so many emo "Will swtor die soon?" threads.

I'm sure there are some legitimate gripes about SWTOR, but on the front page alone there are 5 threads about free to play.

Does SWTOR threaten other games that much?
Probably. Im also beginning to think this game has more than the usual console gamers here who dont like the monthly subscription to play a game and hoping it goes F2P. Wishful thinking. I know I was a part of that crowd before ... then I got a job and CoH caught my eye.

That and SWTOR isnt gaining the millions of subs it was thought to have by now so everyone is now jumping to conclusions assuming its seconds from going the way of LOTRO. Because apparently 1.3 million is the new 150k ... go figure.

IMO the game is far from going F2P. Despite what some would have you believe, F2P is where MMOs go to retire. They signify the "failed MMO" title more than server merges. If the trend ever shows up where AAA MMO's like this, WoW, Rift, TERA or ... I dunno, anything better than titles like Maplestory are RELEASED as F2P then ill worry that MMO's are moving to F2P. Until then, its just smoke being blown by MMORPG.com trying to promote their sponsors. The closest we have now is Guild Wars which (A) isnt really F2P and (B) is the only F2P(ish) MMO out of hundreds thats considered AAA.
