Now it's summer and there lots of things to do outside. I haven't logged in the past 3 days because I have been out every night. That doesn't mean i have unsubscribed.

When I do log on I don't play as much as I did at launch either.
No, no and no.
January and February also had full servers. Christmas break does not last for 60 days.
The drop in player numbers started since March.

No, but the number of players online are influenced by the total number of subscribers.
Again, 200 full servers at launch, 20 crowded servers today.
Unless you imply that there are ~1 mil people (TOR players) in this world who would pay a monthly sub free for a game they aren't playing anymore.
Oh that's funny you haven't looked either.

It's not 20 crowded servers its 20 Full servers today. Not to mention they did increase the server cap of the servers.
But that doesn't matter because as I said it's a well known fact that only a very small percentage of players are ever actually online at any time.
This is your first MMO isn't it?

I have seen only 2 full servers since transfers started. 4-5 were heavy. The rest of servers were standard. But that was a few days ago. Don't tell me about 20 full servers today because that is not true. Are we are either exaggerating here or talking based on available data?
Last night I've seen only 1 heavy server.

Funny how almost everyone and their mother was playing TOR at the same time during the first 3 months, but no one does anymore. Is it because of....aliens?

I guess you missed the Guild Summit where they stated that the average player is loggining on and still playing for 6-8 hours.

Of course that dropped off once people played through the game. Once it lost that new feeling they started playing it like a regular game.

Seriously by your logic WoW is down to 100k players.

Because there is no advantage to be had by paying. Just convenience. But when you meet another player face to face, he is just as strong as you.

Most of my friends and colleagues, guild members have invested exactly jack in these games. Do they feel the need to start spending money? No.

Don't give me the Asian f2p mmo example. Because we can all agree that it is bad. But not the f2p model. Just the way it was implemented.

And don't talk about the f2p games pressuring the sub fee models.
If the p2p games were really worth the money they are asking for, players would have stuck around. But they aren't anymore.
It's not the gamer's fault that f2p is gaining an advantage. It is the p2p games' fault that they are in very few ways better than their free competition.

There is a saying, somewhat related to this: Times are changing. And leaders who refuse to change with them will no longer be leaders.
Sorry to burst your bubble there amigo, but I've actually tried about 80% of the free to crap on you games. Thanks largely to MMOhut and other sites with links to them.

Those games were pure and utter crap on a plate where the player only has one option to be viable in any content
spend far more on the marketplace than most game subs cost.

Some of these f2p game companies go even a few steps further, they limit successful item upgrades to item shop items that get used even if the upgrade fails. (perfect world comes to mind for that)

Also to say that this game lost 90% of its customers is so wrong it needs a new word to describe it (astranomicly silly works well in this case). I know of at least 25-30 people that have active subs to TOR but don't play but maybe once per week due to work or school or what not, also you forgot to factor in those whom can't play due to not being at home due to summer break.

I would imagine that they'd give access to some game system or content for free for people with active long term subscriptions ie 3 months or more.

I think that F2P will come to the game - it appears that it's the way that the industry is going and a very high up EA exec has said that they as a company (they haven't said it's definitely coming to SWTOR) are going to actively explore it.

However, a lot of gamers think that F2P = P2W when what you can have micropayments thus so:

- character name change
- appearance change
- convenience / quality of life items ie bigger cargo holds and backpacks
- access to new and significant game systems ie 3d space zones, guild ships, personal ship customisation
- unique looking items (non stat boosted, cosmetic only)
- access to new zones/instances pvp and pve
- levelling unlock ie unlock a new levelling cap
- legacy items become micropayments
- etc etc ...

The trick is to let the payments be for items that are desirable and that don't impact on the core game ie no P2W and charge for significant content updates.

A smart thing to do would to also keep subscriptions going at the same time with massively reduced in game money sinks ie no fee for augment extractions or legacy perks.

There's loads of things that could be done with micropayments and my bet is is that as soon as BW have stabilised the game and got it to where a mmo in 2012 should they'll start to introduce mucropayment elements - probably first with character and renaming first and then the rumoured space game with extra payments for ship customizations with full f2p by late 2013. Let's see!

I don't see how there are that many people saying that F2P is never truly so.....I've played F2P games for years and I never had even the slightest inclination to spend any money in the game. So I did play free for years...yes, I was often at a disadvantage because of all the shinies coming out of the cash stores but that never forced me to buy anything... (before the flaming rant, this comment has nothing to do with whether I think TOR should go F2P or not)
