You are lying.
You have no idea what you are talking about.

One of those is true. Which one?

This thread is kinda funny. I decided to check out this debate on whether you get rest xp or not when not logged in a cantina.

My nephew made a level 2 sith warrior a long while back. He played for like 15 mins and then logged out in the very first tomb. Certainly not a cantina, the fleet or a ship. I just checked and his character has full rest xp.

I have no doubt that you receive rest xp anywhere you are logged out. Most likely you do get more for being logged out in a cantina though.

What I'm trying to figure out is if Ignicity is purposefully arguing something known to be false, ie. trolling, or if he genuinely believes it.

Prove to me that what other people and myself have witnessed did not happen. I'm not by any stretch of the imagination stating that it was a design choice, but that it has happened. Now, whether it's a bug or not, that's up to Bioware to confirm or deny or ignore.

I'm guessing we'll get the latter option.

The game loses it's immersion when your Maul 1 shots every standard and weak creature, and 2 shots every strong. This is the issue I am having now with my Assassin who is presently 13 levels above content (35 on Nar Shaddaa).
Kyree - Sentinel Kayza - Sage Reyku - Assassin

Fair enough. With the number of bugs in this game I would not at all be surprised. It could be that some places you log out and get rest xp and others you do not. You are right, it is up to Bioware to end this debate and it is probably something they won't do.

All I know is that, in at least some cases, you can gain rest xp while not logged in a cantina.

I'm going to call Hogwash on this one. At level 30 even all those missions are going to be grey. You will get virtually no xp for doing that stuff. The NPCs wandering around will be grey; you will literally get 0 xp for them. You cannot level without a source of xp.

The only way to be level 35 on Nar Shaddaa is to leave, run a couple of other planets, then go back. I know I went back at level 33 to finish up a few heroics I'd skipped too, but you didn't simply level to 35 just from Ord, Coruscant, and Nar Shaddaa. And I don't know exactly how much challenge you expected to find coming back to a low level planet after probably completing all of Chapter 1.
