Resource mission imbalance?!

Can anybody tell me if in Underworld Trading and Treasure Hunting are operating correctly? I am trying to understand why it is that the there are 3-4 out of 5 companion gift missions in every mission level. I thought I chose those skills in order to gather resources for my chosen crafting skills, not woo my companions into insensibility. Is there something I am missing? Like a way to refresh the mission set in each level or am I supposed to max out companion affections before I might be able to get the resources needed to craft more than 1 or 2 artifact items?

maybe the reason why is because they don't want people to obtain rare items at a fast rate to the point where it makes artifact items a common thing to make.. the point of an artifact item is that its suppose to be rare and hard to obtain which is why it has the 45 minutes to craft timer and which is why it takes about an hour to get grade 6 gems or metals the crafting items is another way to make a few credits on the Market and if its easier to craft the artifacts then the value on them go down

I understand rare but I have looted 10X more artifact items than I could even begin to craft. I would like to at least be able to make a few if only for myself but even that seems a near impossibility. Point in fact, I have been watching the level 1 Underworld Trading for 5 days over the course of 2-3 hours each and have yet to see even one rich yield mission. Not only is the chance of getting a rich yield mission EXTREMELY rare but even if I were to finally get one there is no guarantee of getting the artifact resource needed. Not to mention the fact that just getting an underworld metals mission no matter the yield is so rare that I might see 1 in about 20 going through every level.
