You're still in a better situation now than you were pre-transfers.
Actually fatman is the destination for at least one server when I checked.

Basically the whole paying for server transfers thing was what pushed me currently to cancel (though I'll very possibly end up changing my mind) RIFT showed me that this sort of crappy customer service isn't necessary for a game to survive. SWTOR's launch was great but its management since then has pretty much been a hot mess, it is awesome that we're now merging into these mega-servers but the idea of having to pay for future transfers is pretty unfortunate.

They might. They might not. Bioware hasn't said yes or no on the matter.

You would argue that you had two choices, I (and most reasonable people) would argue that you really had one choice because one of them was not viable.

Now, the example I gave is much more extreme than "dead-servers vs. rerolls" but the principle is EXACTLY the same. If you can't understand this there may be some remedial logic or philosophy courses at your local community college that can help.
Unless the wallet also included funds from the rest of the members of the city and by giving it up, it created a less enjoyable life for everyone else. This example kinda misses an aspect of what the problem was.

Also, most people don't receive redemption from choices like that. They request the police to do stuff all the time but rarely actually receive the wallet back...

I assumed if anything we would be allowed to transfer off if transfers became available. When I rerolled there was no plan for transfers yet, much less an implimentation timeline. However it doesnt negate the fact that my server was dead and it no longer made sense to continue to play there. Why are people in this thread so against asking BioWare for the option to get all our toons on the same server? I am not asking for anything but what they are already allowing. Just with more player control. Why shouldn't I be able to consolidate all my toons for free to the server BioWare has now chosen for me to make a home on??

It's been real but the game just wasn't worth the sub for me anymore.

Exactly. Paid transfers are not ruled out, but not confirmed as happening to transfers where you select your destination.

I wonder if Bioware will be in a position to charge extra dollars from its customers when these transfers come, even if the subscription bleeding stops with current server "merges".

It might be a bad idea to try and charge extra from your customer when all he wants it's to be in a position to keep paying you the regular fee.

Bioware might pick the route of free transfers to servers of your choice in the future (after the current round settles down). Heck, they've already given a free month!
