I don't have a problem with micros as long as they aren't a pay to win model. I follow the belief that by giving players more options to play and acquire things in a game, then the better. That way, if I don't feel like raiding for two straight weeks in game to get a piece of gear, I can simply go to the store to buy it with the money I worked for during those two weeks in real life.

You dont want pay to win but you want to buy raid gear. That makes no sense

I checked Yahoo's sources. This isn't credible.

The guy who wrote the article was citing an investment report dated 3/10/2010. That was more than 2 years ago, and in terms of the source of the information, the report was created by an outside company.

None of his other sources support the claims made, although I don't doubt that there will be some form of micro-transactions in the future.

Take the article with a grain of salt.

Jindo, Mercinary, Level 50, The Swiftsure, 3/4 EC HM

yes this would be the right way to make extra money, paid transfers, paid character slots, paid name changes, these should still be part of the sub fee but if they need extra cash this is where it should come from. but if bioware cared for its customers and really wanted to provide a service worth the sub cost they should keep them free.

but not in game items or content. that is why we pay a sub fee, for content and items [vanity or best in slot] accuiring these items is part of the game its not just all grinding and pvp. but the developers would have to play to understand this

the players already suffer having to pay to play a unfinished game, maybe fix your game and make it fun then people will come back and you wont need gimmicks and snake oil to make money

This thread reminds me of football players that take off running before they secure the ball.

The only MTs I can imagine being put up are stuff like species change, sex and/or appearance change, social items, % increase of social points earned for a certain period of time, possible server transfers if they go away from the free version, mounts, vanity pets and other types of vanity items, and other stuff of that sort. Basically things that doesn't affect economy, player performance, or game balance.
