West coaster on Jung ma since release it's not noticable on my connection. I personally think calling servers east west central is antiquated and has more engatives than positives. The biggest negative being segregation of community leading to population imbalances during playtimes when you add too many servers to beginn with particularly.

Of course it's somewhat a self fulfilling prophecy. People entering a new game on release go to a server in their time zone primarily. This creates a magnified load and log in delays that results in a call for more west coast servers which get added then you suffer your 30% attrition over the next 5 months and end up with wastelands. Undesignated people would simply sign up on an available server with sufficient population spreading better over a more sustainable number of servers if you didn't designate them.

100~130ms at east and 25ms in west coast. I don't think they share the same server locations

Starcraft 2 had 10~15 ms and still there was some delay in micro. 130ms is totally unfair!
is that bad...? /shurg

It's also a pain for west coast players trying to structure play time to east coast players, when the difference is 3 or 4 hours.

The problem for me is that Jung Ma is located at the east coast data center. I would much rather transfer to a high population west coast pvp server than deal with the latency issues. Make it so Bioware!

If anything has been proven with this game, it's that if you whine enough and there's enough of a backlash, things change. I'm glad my friends pulled me into a PVP server as opposed to the RP-PVP server I would have preferred to goto. I'm fence sitting now because of my server being completely dead. I like this game. I really do, but if my characters aren't on a populated server within the next 4 days(Game time runs out), I'll be forced to abandon it. So stick in there RP-PVP guys, stick in there and whine and call customer server and do everything you can. No reason for them to not make an exception and give RP-PVP people a choice to transfer to either a RP or a PVP server.

Ajunta Pall, Welcome to Jung Ma. I came from Ven Zallow, and I was very happy to see the high numbers.

They aren't as high as I'd like, but they are significantly better than what Ven Zallow had.

To the people worried about latency due to the distance, we have a member that lives in Oregon play on Ven Zallow and now Jung Ma. He's never reported once that hes having lag or a poor connection.

The US backbone is getting better and better. It's pretty solid these days.

I don't doubt this will be the case...at first. However, over time, it certainly could (and most likely will) change if the server keeps the East Coast designation. As new blood from the West Coast joins SWTOR, they will likely be choosing a West Coast server to play on.

Not complaining, but it is a real issue. Nothing sucked worse than the last MMO I played where I didn't have an East/West choice and was stuck on an East Coast server where everyone logged off right when I would log on 9p PST/12a EST. So I will certainly be monitoring the flow of peeps to see how things go down. Hoping for the best so I don't have to reroll again.
