It is offensive because it's not RP, and there is a standing policy about naming your character Lordofdeathdk, Anemia or Ebola.
Hard mode: Play Republic
Nightmare mode: Play Republic on a pvp server
Are you man enough for the challenge ? Aunt Satele wants YOU.
Republic. No kids allowed.

So ChissInMyPants is ok, but Anemia isn't?

Until someone reports it. The GMs don't scan for stupidity on the servers, otherwise there would be no queues.

Because it's insensitive to people with a real affliction, at least that's what reasoning I would go with.

Certainly seems that way to me.

Yet, names like Synful and various tweeks on parts of the human anatomy are no problem.
I would not presume that, at least for the latter, just because somebody has a name, doesn't mean it is no problem, just that it hasn't risen to the attention of somebody.

Synful would fit on a non-RP server, as not being an overly offensive name, or a biological issue. It might even fit ok on an RP-server, depending on your opinion of that kind of RP.

Now if it were a specific religious term, then that could be more of an issue. Or if there's a general policy against using descriptive words for names.

I think they are going a bit out on a stretch here. If I was on an RP server, maybe; however, I'm not.
Here's the thing, whatever you think about it, they don't have to listen to you, they didn't have to listen to CmndTaco either.

Guess I'll see if they kill my character. If so, I'll be skipping my retail purchase.
Why would they kill your character? Wouldn't they just have a name change flag?

My advice, accept the criticism with grace and equanimity, pick a new name, and move on, if you enjoy playing this game. If you don't, then quit already, but I wouldn't put a particular name as very high on my tree of important desires for a game.

Again just because you see that name doesn't mean it's okay and doesn't mean it won't be forced to change

No one hates Star Wars as much as "Star Wars fans"

That should not be flagged as offensive. I would try and argue your case. Someone might have jumped the gun on that one.

I had no problems in any groups I was in, (other than lag, which would be expected). I even passed on every item that dropped, as I couldn't really use any of the gear personally.

I did get a warning for starting this thread though. So much for free thought or expression. As the game received a 'T' rating, you would think that this would be an appropriate question to put forward. Oh well, I guess I p***** off another prude.

With a little more controversy I might qualify to run for public office.

RP, as far as my understanding of usage, is only encouraged on RP servers, mine is PvE. They had no problem, from the results of an account scan, with my other six names. I avoid RP servers in any MMO; however, particularly in this one, as I have never seen any of the films. (Not that I have anything bad to say about them, just that I was 18 when the first film came out and, as it garnered a PG rating, I used to hate going to films that allowed 10 year-olds. In the '70's, that usually meant lots of noise and people throwing popcorn at the screen.)

If, by 'rules', you mean the 90 pages of boiler plate that is comprised predominantly of legalese, then, yeah I chose to play this week instead of pouring over a basic EULA.

Some things just come down to allowing flexibility in their naming conventions, which, by the other names I saw, does allow for some artistic licence.
