Pants for those people who like to play male Sages

All these things are coming, soon.....
I've been out of the loop for a week. Can you link me to where they say that chat bubbles, interactive chairs, and voice over emotes are coming?

The other stuff I'm aware of, but they're not necessarily mass-consumption features.

I believe that Everyone should consider this.

We still don't have chat bubbles, the number 1 thing roleplayers have been asking for since waaaay before launch and it can't be done seemingly.

I cancelled my sub because this game really fails at critical levels if you like to spend even half your timing roleplaying. I understand the roleplaying community is something of a minority so we should not get priority. That said, there are lots of pure RP servers, so clearly there is a playerbase there of many tens of thousands. We deserve some attention

tsk tsk.
You can find World of Warcraft on google if you search hard enough, I heard in that game you can sit on chairs and use emotes.

Sorry, I was just dreaming again. We will never get any of that stuff here.

Oh, but wouldn't it be wonderful?

The settings and heavy story emphasis during actual gameplay for one.

That's not what I said by any stretch of the imagination. I said that the entire leveling experience and its emphasis on roleplay for swtor, to me, makes it the only mmorpg out there that deserve its rpg suffix. Games like WoW and GW are just mmog as far as I'm concerned.

We are talking about the same thing. The reason I disagree with your entire post is because its blatantly unfair to claim that they're ignoring roleplayers when they've

1. Just added a bunch of stuff aimed at nothing but roleplay.

2. Already promised to implement the two things you're complaining about and more. And oh yeah guess where they confirmed these things? In the roleplaying portion of the guild summit, where they took the time to answer roleplaying demands and questions exclusively.

I can think of an upcoming game that does both of those things well without sacrificing other aspects of gameplay.

We're not talking about the same thing. You're arguing that SWTOR is a great RPG because of the story and setting. Great. I'll give you that. However, neither of those things have anything to do with support for the roleplaying I'm talking about: cooperative storytelling through the use of emotes and dialogue.

In direct answer to your points:

1. Again, we're talking about different kinds of roleplay then, though I'll grant that the addition of any new emotes is a good thing (despite taking issue with their introduction as unlocks).

2. They've promised absolutely nothing. Here's what was said at the summit you mention (and I watched live):

We were like "chat bubbles...really? That's what's doing it?!" And you know, a tech came over and turned off the chat bubbles and framerate went way up and we were like "Oh god, okay." So... uh. We think we've got that worked out though. So chat bubbles: Yes!
The summit was held in March. It is now June and we haven't heard a peep about the status of chat bubbles despite the issue that originally lead them to being pulled having been "worked out."

Unless I've missed an update somewhere...

FIrst thing I do when I load up a new MMO:
Find the chat bubble feature and turn it off, I find it very distracting.

I'm not trying to be insensitive, I just don't understand how something like that would matter. If the point of RP is that you want more realism, wouldn't chat bubbles be the opposite of that? To me they kill the immersion since I find them silly looking. And besides, don't serious RPers use paper and dice? Any visual enhancements to that (a graphical based game) should just be icing on the cake, no?

Isn't the point of an "RPG" be to act out an adventure that you can't do in your day to day life (like taking over a republic transport ship, for example) all the while, making decisions based off how you've decided your character would handle various situations and to "act" like your character while communicating with others as you play? Does the game not accomplish this as is?

Don't you think that more concepts to act out or areas to adventure in and that those features function properly would be more important than where your chat is being displayed within the UI?

Yeah no, the floaty heads in GW2 are not the same as the stories in sw:tor, not by a long shot.

...you actually saw it?

You actually saw them put on the slide titled, "future roleplaying features." With the bullet point, "chat bubbles."

You heard him talk about what the problem was and why it got taken out of beta?

And you link me the actual script that ends with, "So chat bubbles: Yes!"

And then you claim that they are ignoring roleplay and have shown no plans for chat bubbles?

I am speechless.

The guild summit mentioned both chat bubbles and chairs as future content amongst tons of other RP stuff, why on earth would you believe they just dropped it? Just because they don't mention something every week doesn't mean they've just dropped it, it's planned in the pipeline, it'll be in a future patch.
