but to actually find a nest of them would be awesome... it would not be hard... just make everybody go to the same place and voila... open world PVP
Look at the size of that thing

Let's be honest----if you want really exciting, innovative gameplay, you don't look for it in an MMO. The real draw of an MMO is serviceable gameplay coupled with a strong community. Take away the community aspect, and there isn't an interesting MMO on the planet.

Unfortunately, the community on my server is gone. Completely evaporated. All the major guilds have quit or gone into hibernation, nobody is ever online (I check nightly), and as long as my legacy is bound to this dead server, I have no intention of re-subbing or playing---I'm 36 levels in after months of effort, and I will not start over. This is a shame, because if I had a robust community with which to interact, I would continue to play. Most of us would.

But there's an underlying issue. Why did the community on most servers evaporate? Bad decision after bad decision on BioWare's part. They lost the raiders when it became patently obvious that the raid game was too easy and too short. They lost the PVPers when they promised both world PVP and ranked warzones and then failed to implement a workable version of either.

BioWare's list of promised features is long. The list of implemented features is short, and often dubiously implemented. Not the core game, mind you---that's solid. But those quality of life improvements that make MMO gameplay less tedious.

BioWare knows all of this. BioWare also knows that none of its E3 reveals will matter to anyone on a dead server. Yes, I know transfers have been promised. We'll see what happens. Right now, after having followed the game for years prior to launch, I can honestly say that I am frustrated and disappointed that the game since launch has not lived up to my expectations. Maybe they were too high. I'm dealing with that. But on the flip side, with some features, it's fair to say that BioWare promised the moon and has yet to deliver.

When they do, I'll re-sub.

-The game always needs more warzones, ops, and FP
-New items
-Open world pvp systems (however once introduced properly it wont need a lot of work to be improved compared to new ops/FPs)
-Crafting to be more complex and require exploring into dangerous territory
-Multiplayer Mini games
-Warzones that are large scale - BGs
-Server population control
-LFG tool
-ranked pvp

Immersion features
-Roaming NPCs
-more character customization than release
-Wierd looking aliens as NPCs
-NPC A.I. that uses environment and counters abilities, and have unqiue tricks of thier own - to feel more like a pvp fight or a real situation
-Day and night cycles

3d space pvp

Player housing/guild housing and possibly incorportating a crafting system and pvp system with that and becomes a great money sink for the game.

Those are the features that should be in the game. Also a lot of those should be at launch considering the amount of time and money this company had, it was very plausible for them to have open world systems in place, more complex crafting, better A.I. more character creation options with more species even for the NPCs, day and night cycle (simulated and not real bs complex equations as a lie to not do it), roaming NPCs and more lively feel to planets, more than 3 warzones at launch and more than 2 ops at launch, more off the beaten path exploring, and better U.I. customzation which came in 1.2 almost 6 months after release.

So now swtor is catching up to release standards and its 6 months after release, when are we going to get a more complete package for swtor as an MMO and not to feel like a stationary game on the fleet with ques for WZ, or lfg chat for groups for OPs?

One quick solution to helping the problem if devs dont have the time is to crash the fleets and remove them. Make warzones and ops real locations, and also make them in the open world with pvp and put some resources with a timer for example to create a meeting of both factions for those resources. Already there is more open world pvp, and movement to other planets and increasing the exploring/movement in the game.
Exactly!

First, I do not regret i bought the game and played! Really it is a great game...

However, I have some doubts about the way its develop. As it was said the announced inprovements (till the end of the year!!!) they have only cosmetical changes... I think the problem not in the lack of contest, but it's diversity. Hate to compare with WoW, but you can not just kill mobs and other players, you can go fishing or dig thing from the ground, you can try achivements etc. It was always something to do, not just killing. Space combats are great, but to repeat missions day by day is not fun.

BW has great possibility to change this stuff! Make the space combat free and multiplayer! You have all your textures! You can implement mini games, including swoop racing! But instead we will have the same contest with different skins...

Sorry for bad mood post, but I really wanted this 3d space battles, I now I know I won't see them at least for 6 months more...

Yeah cruising around Ilum and the open world pvp area on Tatooine, you can see maybe what the devs were going for when they were designing these locations or I at least imagine what it'd be like to have teams (as in lots) of players going around these places so I'm kinda surprised sometimes that they don't try capitalise on what they already have or try make them work by simply giving players reasons to go to these areas. (When they got rid of the weekly that takes you to Ilum for example, I thought it's like they were keeping players away from what is already a dead planet.)

Personally, and this is probably in the wrong thread, but I reckon that not enough attention is given to maps and the game world. Like I often think the biggest thing SWTOR needs changed is to make it seem less singularly planar. The fleets and city planets especially I think could do with some depth/height to make them feel more dense. If you think about Orgrimmar (yep I'm using this as an example) and a few other places in THAT MMO, you had overhead bridges and underground tunnels in the same instance as everything else. Yes, we have different levels accessed by elevators, but that's not the same. Retarded comment, I know

No you don't deserve "more". You deserve precisely nothing. You are subscribing for a service. If you are not happy with that service, unsubscibe. It is very, very simple. The sense of entitlement on these boards makes me physically wretch with anger. Here we have a fantastic announcement that the majority of players were not expecting and all the trolls and attention seekers can do is whine and say no that's good enough. I want and I DESERVE MOARRR!

I honestly don't understand how the dev's have kept their cool with such a rotten sea of trolls that this game has for a community. If this game ever does go under, I will miss the game enormously, but I will not miss these turgid message boards one bit.

I hope there are enough of you to keep this game going because people are vet players and the MMO market is getting better with more refined games and better hybrids between sand boxes and themeparks and swtor is lacking a lot of mmo features.

So good luck, and I hope your positive remarks on the game dont give the devs a flase sense of accomplishment and ruin the game becuase that would not be possible like I said if there are enough customers like you to keep this going.

Anyways have fun, but blind faith might ruin this game especially since it takes time and money which are both very valuable to development of games, and should not be wasted on bad development for wrong target demographics. They said this was an MMO but its not a full MMO and water downed a lot from a themepark on rails.

They've already announced server transfers and then after the dust settles there will be some kind of merging or mega-servers. So that would have really been anything "new" to announce at E3. They gave like a 2 and a half minute presentation and you expected them to address all this stuff in detail? That's not realistic at all. Plus, they are obviously considering multiple options for server population after the transfers are put into place. So why would they announce the steps they will be taking after transfers and then take away all their flexibility to deal with the situation once the transfers go into place and they see how much of an effect those have?

And fixing Ilum? Are they supposed to just flip a switch and Ilum will be magically fixed? Got any suggestions? From what I can tell, most self-proclaimed PVP'ers don't even like to kill other players unless they get some massive reward for doing it.

Exactly. Plus, a very small percentage of players ever go to the forums let alone post in the forums. For the ones that do, the disgruntled players are more likely to run to the forums to post than the content ones who are off playing and enjoying the game. So it's not reasonable for anyone to think that some negative comments in a few forum threads represents the desires of the majority of the playerbase on a particular issue.
