I see sandbox term thrown around mighty freely here and half the concepts when you push from those saying sandbox, are not sandbox, just standard mmo elements they happen to like!

So what are you asking for?

Player built cities? Never happen in a million years. We cant even get them to commit on instance housing much less a far more developed player ran city model.

SWG crafting? Again doesnt fit game so never will happen. Crew Skills are TORs crafting and its never going to get as detailed as SWG crafting was

RVR? Not sandbox but its coming sometime with Illum appearently

Free roaming space? Honestly dont see it happening as EA pretty married to their current space game but who know, this one could happen if enough asked for it I think.

Exploration? Well again not sandbox but I know id LOVE a planet where you could just hunt. I love TOR story but I also love the original EQ style of areas where you hunt bigger game and even take trophies as in EQ2.

What else?

*not bashing your post btw but as I said, People saying sandbox become kinda trendy thing around here and I dare say the majority of them dont even really know what sandbox entails?
I appreciate your post, this is an excellent way to have a dialogue.

My use of the "sandbox" term is aimed at creating some of your own things to do.

Decorating

Non-instanced housing, hence my asking for a planet. cities would be great, but i'd take what i can get.

Exploring without "roads" and I love your hunting idea.

I'm fine with the crafting as it is currently, but being able to harvest would be cool. (I enjoyed making harvestor runs though.)

Player NPC vendors. Just because I liked visiting different shops looking for different items.

Look, all I'm saying is throw those of us who enjoy these kinds of things a bone.

None of this would interfere with the core game, just some time away from the monotony of....

"HOW DID HE 1 SHOT ME?!!!1?!!" "SORCS ARE OVERPOWERED, THIS GAME SUX!!!!" "YOU GUYS SUCK I'M THE ONLY ONE WORTH A CRAP IN THIS WZ!!!!!"

<SPACEBAR><SPACEBAR><SPACEBAR><SPACEBAR>1<SPACEBAR ><SPACEBAR><SPACEBAR><SPACEBAR>1<SPACEBAR><SPACEBA R>2

"Is he back on yet? why the hell didn't he take a leak before we started? we've run this a bunch of times, he should no the drill"

Yeah, as I said I dont see the havesting though I hope they allow mission queueing at some point (kinda be same thing with out placeing the harvestor). Will never get quality percentages though on harvested mats. Thats just not this game.

And as I said, SWG/UO style houseing will never happen in a million years.
HOWEVER, I truely do beleive not having some style of housing that you decorate was a mistake by EA from word go.

For some reason EA (and Trion with RIFT) have a burr up their behinds about player housing and decorating them.

Both games flat out refused to offer it at launch of their games and both games now have a solid base asking for it. Heck Rift might already have it (havent checked in long time).

I do think instanced houseing will come and I bet it will follow the EQ2 service (which was by far the best houseing I ever saw, that includes SWG and UO houseing. Personal opinion but it was fantasic and everything you could want with out the urban sprawl and item count lag that was common in UO and SWG)

As for Vendors, you talking player vendors? Cause I find most planets have pretty good npc vendor set ups in TOR. Dont think im following you on this one.

(PS: If you mean player vendors and no gtn, lol im sooooo in! I hate the GTN, I loved Vendors in SWG, DAoC, UO. Heck I loved going to market place in EQ. Auction houses just seem to take the excitement of shoping for that gereat item out. Punch in a couple words and bamm, there the item. BORING. hehe )

Honestly I hope they add Wookie land as a explorable world set up like KotOR but 1000 times larger with a giant maze in the forest below the wookie tree tops. Where you can run into Imps openly (no instanceing for each side).

Really could be a RVR world where you go to RVR. Wookies would be our relic and they could put a base at other end for imps and what not.

Thats something I could get excited about!

You can do all this with instanced housing ...

This is actually incorrect. It's been known that the developers are unhappy with the current state of space combat since it was announced. The system is going to be receiving a complete and in-depth overhaul on a massive scale, which the developers are already testing internally.

You know FFXIV has alot of those sandbox features, and bombed....badly. So bad they fired the lead producer, development team leads, and had to redesign the entire game.....

I was in closed beta for months and never saw them say that.

Maybe they did? They said allot of stuff was being looked into thats never been mentioned again after the beta forums went down.

News to me, I remember them saying this is how they envisioned space being (as it is now) though.

I saw them actually say the reverse. when PC Gamer did its space combat reveal, the magazine claimed that co-op, PvP, and other space missions were in the works. Bioware came out and said that was completly untrue: that there was no desire (at the time) to further expand space combat.

It was also mentioned during one of the cons when they were announcing 1.2's features, if he wants to look for it. One of the developers let slip how he had been testing the new space system before the event.
