Why don't you play all 8 class story lines?

The major MMOs on the market are constrained in this regard.
But unlike WoW, SWTOR keeps you pretty much on the same path even after level 10. In WoW vanilla one could roll a troll for instance "skip" the starting experience and do the "undead" starter area and the two follow on areas or do both or bounce between without restriction. I think that is what many are frustrated about.

In SWTOR if I am an IA I HAVE to do Hutta first (undstand this for the story quest but all the side quests why?). I can not go to Korriban and do quests there (except for the one daily but conversely there are no dailies that someone from korriban can do on Hutta). And after the starting planets there is only one path to take. In WoW vanilla for instance. I could roll NE and progress from starting area to darkshore to ashevale and barrens OR go over to the dwarf area and do those quests then loch moden then to wetlands OR go to elwyn forrest do those quests then westfall then to redridge and duskwood etc.

That is what people mean by having choices on where to level. In SWTOR its "on the rails" with no real choice for any ONE class. There is a set path. Remember you had multiple choices in vanilla WoW in the year 2004.

Leveling in wow is sorta done in concentric circles and there are multiple "pools" to jump into and out of it has always been that way since day one. SWTOR has ONE path for the most part it is very linear.

I am not stating one is intrinsically better than the other. I think it depends on what one is used too and tollerance for repetative tasks.

I don't because of the roughly 90% filler quests in this very linear game which are the same each playthrough. SWTOR is the FF13 of MMOs.

I try to, the problem is that 95% of the quests you get on every planet are the same for everyone on that faction. It's super repetitive. I enjoy the cutscenes, but regardless of how much I enjoy them, watching the full 2-3 minute dialogue for every quest I've done 3 times already is not my idea of fun, it's also not how'd I'd like to spend the little time I get to play.

To help alleviate this I switch between factions regularly.

I see what you're saying. I never played WoW for any length of time....couldn't stand it.

But to be fair, SWTOR has two different paths, one for each faction. Perhaps with upcoming patches, players need only do Class Quests, and gain extra xp through Space, or PvP, or FP/Ops.

The long term solution would be to add more planets and paths...but that's going to take some time.

I am not as fond of the Jedi C as other storylines, and being disabled makes the Cover and melee classes a bit too difficult for me to play. That said, I do have a Jedi Knight in the wings in case I improve at melee combat.

As suggested way back in Beta - optional zones with non-voiced quests, just text based quests for much quicker and cheaper development time.
Real Star Wars space combat please, not Star Wars Fox! Maybe some PvP and flight too?

I try, but most of the quest are the same. If you stay with the class quest then fine but you miss all the good loot and leveling is more difficult because your almost always the same level as the difficulty. Story for side quest is the same with slightly different dialogue and it tends to drag. Also the story while told well is just not engaging. It's just chatter about things you could care less about. After awhile you just want to skip through and get the mission done.

Add really slow and bogged down methods of transportation and you jus get tired. You spend more time getting from A to B than leveling. Even with a game with a heavy focus on story it's still just a theam park mmo with fetch quest. I asked a friend who is playing D3 now if he wanted a friend code for SWTOR, he said I played it, got bored. I could'nt even argue with him.

The highest I have is a level 24 Jedi Guardian as an Alt and is the only character I am commited to only because it's the Republic side. But after I max him to 50 Im pretty sure it will be hard to pick up the other classes.

IF a lot of the legacy perks they are offering in 1.3 came sooner I might have been more willing. I do appreciate Bioware trying to make my life easier but.....

They are just sooooooooooooo slow in providing content. And while my wallet gets smaller I am getting antsey and about ready to jump ships to other games.

Text-based quests... The future of MMO gaming.

Any day now Infocom will rise from it's grave and make all these fancy games with their graphics redundant - real gamers just need a black screen with white text on it.
Think of this: If you will play a Jedi or a Sith, now you will never get to take your apprentice to fight with you in flashpoints, warzones or raids. You will never face together any of the big end-game bosses.

The only classes I like to play are sage and sorc. I' have melee and bh/commando alts but I'm not a fan of those playstyles. I don't care if sages and sorces currently are some of the squishier classes, the speed and versatile still make them the most fun to play for me.

I have every intention of creating an agent and/or smuggler alt some day but I havent been able to pull myself from my two main chars yet.

As for having to re-play most of the same content again, I'm fine with that. My main problem is that I really dislike two planets, Balmorra and Alderaan. I thought they were boring the first time and it's only getting worse for every time I have to force myself through them.

Story was something I viewed to be an excelent eddition to hte MMO genrue... but from past expierence I just enjoy everything thnat goes into endgame more than I do the level up game.

Leveling up is mostly solo... hard to find people to team with long term because different lives will effect play time. Endgame it is easier because with the lockout timers and such gear should be obtained at a similar rate between guild members who can commit to the same schedule.

The level up game is relativly simple... the story has made a lot of the repetative mmo stuff acutally fun but I still look forward to finding the chalanges that come from endgame content designed for groups that play together a lot.
