Why don't you play all 8 class story lines?

I made one repub and one empire char. Tried to make a second empire character, but besides the main story quest, every quest is the same. I knew what was going to happen, so I just quit the character.

So unlike WoW and every other MMO, where every new character you create encounters totally new and unexpected quests...
Think of this: If you will play a Jedi or a Sith, now you will never get to take your apprentice to fight with you in flashpoints, warzones or raids. You will never face together any of the big end-game bosses.

I disagree. I love the story lines but after a few characters, I don't want to sit through the same basic side quest dialogue. It's just a waste. You know what they're going to say and you know your new char is obviously going to agree to do the quest. Doesn't mean you don't enjoy the story aspect of it.

Guess they don't come from other MMORPGs or just simply hate leveling alts. Most other MMORPGs has you seeing the exact same story every time you level a new character with -no- variation at all. Here at least the class story, which is additional to the main story content, is different. I too think doing some of the planets for the bazillionth time is incredibly tedious, but it is considerably less so than in other games in the same genre.
Really?

Vanilla WoW had about 3-4 different leveling zones for every bracket. Didn't want to do that? You could level through dungeons to your heart's content, as they had at least one (Usually 2-3) dungeons for every bracket, many of which were completely non-linear.

Besides that, TOR was BUILT on the premise that people will be leveling alts, why else would they put so much time and effort into the legacy system? Other MMOs do not, they promise an endgame that is worth playing.

After following this entire thread, I have to say those disappointed really just sound like they're tired of MMOs in general. Every complaint I've read can be ascribed to other MMOs.

No alternate leveling paths: Few themepark MMOs at launch has multiple leveling paths. SWTOR (along with WoW) is in fact an exception because they have two completely alternate leveling paths at launch. LOTRO took over a year to have an alternate leveling path. The major MMOs on the market are constrained in this regard.

I wouldn't be surprised if the developers are actually baffled by the feedback they get, as the complaints could be easily said about any MMO.
Good will always triumph because Evil is lazy.

I would like to play all 8 of the class story lines, but probably won't because I'd also have to do the same planet/side quests 4x each. I can stand some repetition . . . just not quite that much. xD

I plan to get two classes to 50 on each faction, and to help keep things fresh, I try not to level my characters concurrently. That is, run one through all the way to 50 and then do another, so there is more time between repeating the planet/side quests. Ideally, I'd have alternated Republic/Empire too, but I wasn't too happy with my first 50 so decided to level a second Republic character for playing with my guild in ops and such.

But who knows, one day in the future when I have long since finished my four level 50's, the prospect of doing all those quests again might not be so bad since so much time will have passed.

I don't see where the poster mentioned WoW. Maybe you could point it out.

While the main story is unique, the side mission will be the same. Many players cannot handle repeating it twice much less FOUR time per faction. I am sure if a player can level their character PURELY on class story line, then we might have a different story.

To play all 8 classes to 50 is not as it was promoted 'a unique experience'. The class quests(unique) are at most an hour per planet. Other than that you have the republic story and the empire story. Of which you have to do each 4 times. The quests and the locations are the same every single time, save for a couple of unique quests along the way for your class story. That is why.
