Yes i will be completely satisfied if the same server tool works and stops people who cant get groups in the time they have to play from leaving the game discouraged.

Ive just always pointed out that this test has been done 4-5 times already by every other major mmo out today, and why doesnt a dev team for a $200m mmo know ths already.

"At the launch of this feature (Game Update 1.3), we will not be doing cross-server flashpoints. There are a couple of reasons – first off, it’s a significant technical achievement, and we felt that pursuing it would not allow us to get the feature to you guys as quickly as it needs to happen. Secondly, most of the design team thinks that it’s not necessarily good for the community. When the odds are very low that you will never group with another player again, there is very little social pressure to not be a complete jerk to that person, which is not a particularly positive game experience. We may revisit this decision in the future if our metrics show that flashpoint queues are not firing enough, but in general, queue firing should be more about distribution of key roles (tank, healer, DPS) than about overall population."-------Damion Schubert, Lead Systems Designer

Well atleast they have opened the doors to x server lfg tool for the first tme ever. and atleast now we know its most of the design team that doesnt understand modern mmos and not just one person who is calling the shots. lets just hope that their metrics tell them that the same server lfg tool isnt good enough and they fix it before everyone else leaves the game.
X-server FP Finder will come, I have always thought this. I just hope its sooner not later, or too late.

Yeah i have never questioned whether they will have a cros server fp tool, its just will they have it in time to save the game and why on earth is a AAA mmo company doing this.

you have to have a comunity for a group finder to work. Right now 90% of the servers are dead, that needs to be fixed first.

The legacy system im like we need playable content not fluff stuff.
The definition of insanity is to continue to do the same thing while expecting different results.

Ill admit I dont know much about server technology, but its interesting to find out that a cross server LFG is apparently that hard to set up. Guess we take alot for granted when we play a game like WoW that has that level of superior resources at hand which this games developers obviously dont.
Look at it this way, WoW won't share their cross server wizardry with other companies. As someone mentioned earlier though server only group finder is a stepping stone to cross server and I'd rather have a group finder that I can play with now rather than a cross server one in 3months+.

Compared to other group finders this one looks quite interesting because it allows players to form a group on the planets, this could mean that leveling with other players becomes a reality. It should also make the daily quests far more enjoyable too.

Damien....WRONG WRONG WRONG.... no cross-server queue means FAIL. Your technical inability to pull this off does not translate into a community. This sounds like the typical rationalization that comes from too much work with too little time to complete it. "Well, we should put in cross-server queueing to stop all the cancellations." "But won't that hurt the community feel of the empty servers...." "Your right! Why take on that work? Customers never really know what they want." /HIGHFIVE

...but seriously, if you guys don't do server merges and cross-server queueing this thing is going down. I will be going down with the ship, but I can't say the same for my fellow subscribers. Never should have shipped this thing without cross-server and never should have opened so many servers.

I would expect that kind of reply from a smaller company, but am suprised to hear it from Bioware.

I love how everyone is an expret at programing. It took WoW what 2 + years to get cross server battlegrounds.

Its not like Bioware can call up Blizzard and say hey can we get the code to allow for cross server battlegrounds?

So much for "Just copying everything WOW does"...

I'm glad to see them making changes where appropriate to help the game along. 1.3 looks great so far... can't wait!

Technical inability i can forgive for awhile. Bioware has been outright stating they do not want a cross server lfg tool, and its taken them 6 months to anounce a same server lfg tool.

Cross server is a bad idea. It will make the in-game community as negative as this thread. They will be offering server transfers so move to the fatman. If this game is so horrible why do people come here and spend so much time complaining in a forum for a game they don't enjoy playing?
