My theory, and this is JUST a theory, is they needed someone else to be dead for 20 some-odd years or so. Barry Allen was the first to "stay dead" for as long as he did. Then BAM! In a Flash of the Lightning, he's back in Final Crisis.

Shivalka: Darth Baras is quite large, isn't he?

Well Barry Allen, is able to outrun death so I mean that makes sense he is able to come back.

Marv Wolfman is sorely missed as a writer. He wrote the original Crisis and kept it all together somehow. It was completely Epic, before Epic was cool. If you can pick up the TPB at your local comic book shop, issue #8 is titled "A Flash of the Lightning" and tells the story of his death.
