My roommate played the Beta problem free and now can barely move on the lowest of settings. Tabbing out is almost impossible ...
Same exact thing here - played beta 70 fps with no problem and now i go down to 0.5 and 0.1 on loading screens. Average fps is around 20. I"m very disappointed they did a bait and switch so to speak.

I noticed this just a few moments ago. Was freaking out that maybe my Ram was dying. Basically last morning I crashed after running through Taris for ten hours, everything was getting choppy and then when I entered a phase it froze and chopped (1FPM - pretty much) before randomly closing. Well I turned off the computer by then for a couple hours while I slept only to get back on. Not even an hour in, things trivial like opening the map took a second - likewise for quest bonuses and changing levels on a map (level 1 - level 2 - etc). Finally entering a phase I went to climb a flight of stairs and it's like the game went on vacation.
I have the exact same problem and it happened roughly 10-11hrs within questing around in Taris

Update on my part and hopefully this will help others

I found that having quest called "Future Threat" tracked caused 1sec lag from opening the map in addition to sudden and annoying spikes/lag from running around. But this only occurs during the first task "Find the Missing Commandos" of the quest

Sorry for bumping, but is it intended that it should have the *32 at the end? Makes me think it runs as a 32 bit program which doesn't seem optimal

I suspect this is some kind of workaround to allow the 32bit client to use more memory, instead of making a proper 64bit client or multi-threading. I can't see it being very optimal and it's probably why people get weird performance problems on high-end specs :/

Hello to all players and to SWTOR team! I bump up that theme because i have the same issue whit 2 running swtor.exe in the task manager. One of them consume more memory from the other... and memory consumption of the one swotr, exe task increases over time until I spend an error message saying that I have more no memory and to close the program ?!
I use Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit whit 6 GB of RAM! Have a laptop whit Intel i-7 whit 8 GB RAM but on him i don't notice problem like this or this is because the more RAM???
When kill one of the swtor.exe process in task manager it kills the other swtor.exe too and the game is close.

That is vary annoying problem..
PS: And one more think... there is a problem whit slow loading between missions or after lending on a planet....may be a consequence of the problem above. Before last patch i don't have that problem.. so i think that new patch have bug or something. I write a ticket to SWTOR team and wait a answer for that issue.

The advantage I see behind this is that the Netcode doesn't get throttled if the game is busy rendering Dancing Twi'lek.
Also they can use all 2GB of Ram (Win 32bit limit) for the game without having to consider the Netcode etc.
The problem is that memory manager is crap in this game.
Example is the DiskCacheArena file in 1 hour from 10k to 1Gig and then things start crashing like sound or to desktop.

Bio Ware knows about this but has no clue how to fix it as they over ride the Operating System with a interface in the game that just make the OS finally crash to desktop as the game is doing so poorly at managing devices and memory.

The worst part is that Windows XP is the standard in a 64 bit multi processor world and Microsoft dropped XP for good reason.
A. 32 bit and has horrid memory managment.
B. 32 bit so can only support 4 Gig of memory.
C. 32 bit so slows a 64 bit computer to a crawl.
D. 32 bit so Windows 7 is basically rendered worthless as being run as Windows XP from 7 years ago.
E. 64 bit compters are made into slow 32 bit computers as SWTOR is 32 bit and Windows XP only.

It's working as intended. It has always been like this. The only reason this threa even got started is someone thought that their performance issues early in launch were becasue "two clients were running".

I've been running on a windows 7-64 I7 with 6 gig since early access and have never had a problem with memory, performance, or anything else. The highest I ever say memory get was 85% used, and that was after playing for more then 8 hours straight.

As for long load times when landing on a planet, that is also normal. It annoys some people, but it is what it is. It's a one time event when you enter the planet (or any other zone). And you will notice that the length of time tends to be proportional to the size of the zone you are entering (ie: large planets take longer to load then small ones).
When you find yourself surrounded by hostile Clowns... always go for the "Juggler" first.
