Patient, we should be.

This marks my first ever post and hopefully not my last.

After playing SWtOR for a full week trying out the starting points and some further content on various classes has given me quite a bit of a feel for this game. I honestly love the design. The idea of giving people the chance to play as their favorite role from an (in my opinion) amazing story is perfect. However, the design is indeed lacking. This, im sure, will be gradually fixed as time goes on. Just like in WoW, nothing was ever really perfect and even today, there are still many issues that disconcerts all kinds of players.

We need to be more patient with this game. Sure, some issues go unanswered, but there is only so much the developers can do in the time they have available to them. Personally, I think the starting locations should be race-based and not class-based. That is definitely going to get boring fast. Playing to enjoy the story is great, and personally, i think its perfect. However, end-game content should be just as abundant. If all level 50s have is a few "raids and instances" we are not going to want to sit on our 50s doing nothing. Thus where the starting points come in to play. Of course, all my informations is coming from what ive read here as well as researched.

Some ideas i have:
Starting locations by race. Possibly other force/non-force classes (fighter pilots?). The ability to choose what kind of starter ship you want rather than having them be class-based as well as the ability to purchase and upgrade ships to different hull types. Achievements - i know this is quite common, but honestly it is something to pass the time for higher level players. Build and reverse engineer droids - maybe build your own droid companion? I think that would be fun. Pod racing could inspire a completely different tier of end game content. I have a few other ideas, but ill end here.

Hopefully i get some agreements here, but im also looking for some criticism. Ideas?

I feel you OP, but you just told a forum full of self-entitled gamers to be patient.

Patience ... I get it.

The problem is, being patient doesn't contribute to an empty gaming experience. Look, I love the game. It's a blast to play. However, sitting in 45 minute - 1 hour queues to PvP, isn't fun. Not finding anyone to do groups, isn't fun. I spammed for an entire PvP queue that I was LFG to do instances with. I got one person to join me, and the group never materialized.

This is happening on all 3 servers I play on (all lvl 50 toons).

I can be patient, but that patience can take me only so far when it comes to an MMO with no players in it. I'm afraid that they're doing too little, too late and the majority of the player-base will be gone by the time they get everything fixed.

It wouldn't be an issue if we weren't paying customers. Right now the agreement that we entered into with EA/BW is not being met for a large majority of people. We're paying for a multiplayer experience not a monthly payment for an RPG experience. Patience only goes so far. For my it's 6 months. That's more than enough time to fix bugs and deploy basic tools that other MMO's have. If they can't meet that then I'll find another game to fill my time and take my $15 a month. It's too bad as well since I'm tired of the sword and board mmo's.

ONLY ISSUE IS.
211 servers. 1.5 million subs is more then enough players. I played a MMO with 30k and had a healthy population when they closed more servers.

the ones who are quiting, complaining, and such are players that are spoiled by a 11million monstrosity that refuses to go away.

I am Patient, i stuck with a Game that Refuesed to give Free transfers, which were 50 bucks PER TOON, ALL ITEMS LOST, etc. I stuck with it for 8 years, i can stick with myserver for another few weeks.

Patience, the forum has none.
That's why they call it space, cause there is so much of it.

Patients, I got, one reason the choices for games out there today are just the same ole crap, sword snd board fantasy games, I have played mmo's since the late 90's, 90% of them have been sword and board fantasy, I am sick of them.. I was A Star Wars fan May 25th 1977, first.
With all the short comings this game has it is still a better choice for me, I have grown with other mmo's that were far worse, the first year but later turned out pretty good.. I will take my time play at my pace and watch the game grow or the game go, time will tell..

I was right where you are a couple of months ago - and I still like parts of the game. But the longer you play, the more you outgrow the theme park on rails and you start appreciating a deep, fundamental hollowness to the game's structure: things like pointless post-50 play, LS/DS decisions being basically irrelevant, story choices usually not mattering at all, obvious and boring time sinks, dead planets that never change at all, lack of community activities, etc etc.

The truth is I want to finish out my agent story and the Jedi Knight, and then I'll probably unsub and check back after the next patch or two. If there's not new content I'll wait for the expo. But there's little point ranting about the game's flaws or making empty threats or whatever, you just decide where your gaming time is best spent, and to me, this game doesn't have long-term appeal. And I'm afraid it's a design problem that's not going to be fixed at this stage.

OP was so patient they waited until May to even decide to play the game. Good job.
