I think the idea is to be able to farm it up on another character that you then buy the gear on like your main to then send it to your alt so you have gear all the way when you level.
Nightmare Lands
Lorem Ipsum
Evita / Eva-sofie Seer Sage / Corruption Sorcerer
Evé Shield Specialist Vanguard

Whatever the idea was it is utterly stupid how it was implemented. The stuff that you'll outlevel and throw away in a day takes 2 weeks to farm for? Seriously.... if they let us somehow continuously upgrade it or so it would make 'some' sense but as it is its just a waste of space and development time.

This. it's just a fancy purple item that takes forever to get. Purely ridiculous that they aren't moddable. Seriously WHAT WERE THEY THINKING.

The orange gear you can buy for credits however is at least a decent idea.

Worst part: BOUND TO LEGACY, and "<INSERT CLASS> ONLY" So yeah.. I'm going to waste a character slot making two Sith Warriors. Great idea. roflol

Such groundbreaking development must come first and does take great time and care.
I have to disagree. the a fore mentioned gear took little or no time to make or implement. It's in fact scrap code or filler if you like the time it took to make it did not didn;t take anything away from WZ's and the like.
So what does this key unlock.........I hope it's a chastity belt.

I've looked at those vendors twice. The second time was to go back and make sure it was really as bad as I thought, and it was

It's better to just get moddable gear for your alts and then make or buy mods for the gear. I thought the inheritance gear would be scaling with level, and I was wrong.

they are only usefull for 3 levels,a lvl 17 purple is way better than a lvl 14 legacy item...so yes they are useless

The way it is implemented now, is so frustrating as to be maddening, that something so ill-thought out could even be put in the game at all.

Right now, the item is only about the equivalent to Purple+1, and since the only version available is at 14ish or 34ish it's worthless after a few levels.

The only way paying 100-250 daily commendations for a piece of this gear could have been worth it, were if the item levels up with you somehow. Or else the same kit could be used multiple times across different characters.

As it stands now, it's just so stupid as to be painful to contemplate.

So what gives? Is Bioware this clueless or am I missing something? I hope I am missing something, cause it pains me to pay money to a company that thinks someone is so stupid as to grind several weeks worth of dailies for basically, a purple item at lvl 14 or 34.
I'm not sure if you were familiar with the way the Mythic team sold Renown and Scenario gear in WAR back in the old days. Whoever was behind that not so brilliant scheme was probably the brains behind behind the same sort of pricing in SWtOR. The solution that was finally reached after WAR hemorrhaged subs was that much of the Renown gear now sells for gold and not tokens, but the insane Scenario weapon grind remains and is only viable for endgamers. They did however offer a sort of workaround in that better loot drops often gave nice purple weapons until that sought after epic weapon could be ground out.

Yeah i dont think they spent much time on that gear, this game had so much more gear in beta than is in live, they must have a ton of extra armor models laying all over the place.

The optimistic part of me says this gear is a place holder, much like all the Light Social Gear.

The realist says that Bioware is clueless based on what I have seen them do from beta to now.
