They should have time, whether people should continue to pay for this 'time' is an entirely different matter.

Once I gave myself time to think it over, however, I realized that there's no point in being irritated. You people need to know that this is Bioware's -FIRST MMO-. They're still learning how to do it. It takes time to learn how to make sufficient patches on the first try, or to polish the game to a certain degree. As store-shelf game designers, Bioware is used to being able to fix a mistake a long while after's it's made because they notice during the development and testing process. In a video game, you have at least a couple of months of testing. In a mmo, they're rushing to put the patch out(Here, I'm not talking about the actual game, just the patch. Bioware had several months of BETA to test it). Until Bioware learns some of these skills needed to run an MMO, we will notice some issues.

On top of inexperience, Bioware is also having issues with both EA and the Mass Effect 3 ending. EA has rushed them to complete both TOR and Mass Effect 3 on time in order to compete with other titles as is what happens when you have another company calling the shots for you. When it comes to Customer support, most of the issues people have are there simply because they've never played an MMO before. I've seen people complaining about selling something they needed and not getting a warning. That's simply how an MMO is. On top of that, TOR gets THOSANDS of help requests every day. If your ticket isn't addressed immediately, or is addressed inadequately, -BE PATIENT-. Continue asking for assistance if they failed to help you and you will get your answer eventually.

For those of you whom can't even log into the game due to crashes, I don't blame you for unsubscribing.....But if you do, and actually like the game, check back in with it eventually. Chances are, they will have fixed it.

Now then, before you say that I'm a Bioware/EA fanboy, please note that I have only ever played one Bioware game which was the original KOTOR and I preferred KOTOR II to that. When it comes to EA, I have two games by them that I don't really pay much mind.
Here Here, spoken like a true Biodrone. I bet you probably work for the company as well - ergo, no profile picture. BW/EA has had ENOUGH time to get their act together. The time for excuses is OVER. They need to cut their losses and make this F2P already.

The game is still Beta quality. They obviously have no understanding of an SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), the game engine is 10 years old, the graphics are horrible, there are so many bugs STILL in this game, I can see them walking across my screen. There is no viable end game content - ergo the creation of this tragic legacy system that encourages you to create an endless amount of alts - another proof of no viable end game. On top of that, they insult you by having you buy the legacy garbage instead of giving to you for "proving your worth." Pets/companions are a total joke in this game. Professions are absolutely useless and better gear can be acquired via drops. People are sick and tired of the lack of Customer Service (CS) and/or having their tickets randomly deleted wtihout explanation. Tired of being blatently lied to by BW - promising one thing and getting a piece of garbage instead.

Bioware, you tried, you overhyped, you released too early and you FAILED BIG TIME. Change the game to F2P, then at least you can try to salvage what you can and push out patches and updates and a quicker rate. Oh wait, that's right, you can't push out patches and updates as fast as other games because you dug yourself in a hole with the Voice Overs (VO). For any major Xpan that you will release, you're going to need the voice actors - no voice actors, xpan is pushed back even further. Do the right thing and make it F2P...

The most important issue that I see on this forum in general is that the behavior of some of the players can be called underage...
This is I am afraid a direct reflection of today younglings in general. Since I have seen it not only in various MMO’s, but also in real life.

The younger generation tends to be a lot more:
- Impatience (every error that is discovered has to be fixed right away or else I will whine on the forums about the fact that I will quit soon)
- Lazy (every thing should be made as easy as godly possible and if possible even more easy).
- Seeing only black/white (No compromises are possible and only their views are truth).

To me personally all the whining on the forum makes me smile, because it is truly the same on all the MMO forums… Well except maybe SWG when it was still playable since that was heavily moderated especially after the NGE patch and punishable not only with a forum, but also ingame perma-ban.

I just have to quote this for truth… Plenty of F2P MMO’s available.

I currently pay for 1 sub of SWTOR from the moment my 30 free days are over (because I do not intent to quit just yet) and 2 subs in an MMO called Istaria, a small PvE niche MMO that is in my eyes atleast a million times better then WoW, but it is a nice game only with very limited PvP and while I do not play it anymore it still deserves the funding for all the hard work the development team keeps doing.

Some of you I agree with and have a right to complain (thanks to all the whining on the forum about servers with very few players I chose the best filled EU server I could find back then), but there are players who whine just to be heard it seems.

As far as I personally go with MMO’s is:
1. I play a trail.
2. Do I like the trail I sub for 1 month.
3. Do I not like the trail I uninstall and forget about the game forever if possible.

Even when I decide to go beyond the trail period and start paying or when I decide to take a leap and just pay for 1 month when the game has no trail I keep playing and paying up until the moment I no longer see fit to.

To put is simple…
Is the game fun for me or is it worth my money?
If yes I keep paying, if no my account is cancelled the game uninstalled and they will probably never see me again.

As for actually giving Bioware time...
First came a game called Dragon Age: Origins … Really cool game.
Then more and more expansion were created… Each expansion more bugged and disappointing then the next.
World: The Red Eclips - Guild: Rage
- Dra'Lion the Sith Marauder
- Ro'Lion the Sith Sorcerror

I loved the game for the first 5-6 weeks. I never complained that I had to pay because I was having fun leveling. I was really addicted. But then the lvl 50 wall hit me. Grinding dailies, and doing the same PvP instances over, and over, and OVER again. The game stopped being fun. It was NOT a new game. It was the same MMO I played for years...it just had a different skin.
Playing an alt was not fun. There was simply nothing in this game to keep me from paying a monthly sub. Am I glad I played? Yes. Will I come back when the game is fixed, and has additional content for 50+? Maybe...maybe.
And the only reason it is a maybe is because I have moved onto a new MMO (TERA) and am having an absolute blast. This is what a MODERN MMo should be like. Combine that with GW2, and I just may stay in a another galaxy...far, far, away.

Swtor was not the game I was looking for.

It isn't as if they aren't fixing things, it is often what they are fixing, their prioritization if you will.

I tried to jump up a box (had done this before) on hoth to cut out part of the chain to of platfroming to get to a datacron. Apparently they had removed the edges from just that set of boxes, they had been there before, not anymore. Then I thought to myself, "they fixed this... really... HK has been bugged for how long now and they spent time and resources on this!?!?!?"

Needless to say, this is just one of many examples, and I am sure most people would agree, it seems the developers don't have their priorities straight. At the very least, not in line with what the community sees as important.
The difference between madness and genius is measured in degrees of success.

As more content is realised, more subs will come, while others leave. The game will prolly stabilize in a year or so to core subs. Are server merges needed, prolly. Could more work be done, oh hell yeah. I do not think this game is the end all, and it was never billed as that. It needs work and polish, but its a great game for what it is. And despite 400k leaving, it still has 1.3 million that play it, and most of them could care less what these forums say.
It has? It is? For LucasArts that's true, but for EA/BioWare? If they spent the reasonably estimated 200 million dollars making the game they haven't recouped that yet. And that would be development costs, not servers and advertising.

The game has only been out for basically 4 billable months (first month to jan 13 free, free month), lets say 1.5 million at 15 dollars per month is 90 million dollars+ 2 million sales at 50 ish dollars a pop (losing a lot to retail sales but getting full value for online) so we'll generously say they've brought in 200 million dollars. But they're burning money for call centres (US, Galway, outsourced), + development staff, + servers + bandwidth monthly. I'd put their profitability point at closer to 1.5 million.

granted, we're talking about a relatively small launch territory, they will pick up a pile of subs by opening up to new areas.

If you didn't know how to build an MMO, then don't build one. 6 years of development time require proof of the work and frankly the quality isn't here. This is 2012 and there are new MMOs launching with more quality. Bioware doesn't have the time and frankly without RIFT paced updates over the next couple of months the sub numbers are going to take a devastating fall again.
Relabeling future patches as Expansions, just like EA Louse said a year ago. Who got the last laugh?

You seem to know a thing or two about MMO's. How long do you think people will keep being put off by a company/ game until they feel they won't get what they are paying for and decide to go elsewhere.

That seems to be occurring at a faster pace now. Which was my original point

I'm glad your are one of the ones that is happy with your gaming experience here but what about all the others that (at no fault of their own) are not having the MMO experience they want because of the lack of service that they pay for
What lack of service? Surely there are people who can't log in and can't load the game for some reason.... they have a legitimate gripe for lack of service. But who are you talking about? Just because some feature is missing doesn't equate to a lack of service.

But whatever. Some people who don't like the game will just leave. Others who don't like the game will stop playing (or claim to) and just haunt the forums instead. And the rest will continue playing the game as they always do, while BioWare improves the game and adds more to it. And that will be that....

Im in for the long haul, but I think biggest thing hurting the game is how demanding the graphics are for some people
