Not necessarily. We don't know how long sub numbers have been at 1.3. His comment could easily been based on numbers he knew but we didn't at the time.

Sorry that is very possibly what happened while I was dodging all the fanboys and haters.

Those numbers are just guessed, it could be more it could be less. They had 1.7million subs for a few months so I really took 500k subs away from lets say 3 months that's $22,500,000 extra you would have to add.
Maybe they get $35 for every game sold that's another $10,000,000 in sales just from the game itself.
Maybe they sold 300,000 copies from their own site making the full $70 of each copy sold, then you would have to add another $12,000,00 extra

There is another $44.5 million you would need to add but we just don't really know.

They simply cannot pull out and they wont, I really hope they don't, I really enjoy playing the game and I played wow for 7rs. Sure they are things they need to fix but things like the legacy they added is fantastic.

I saw that in terms of story, but never really saw that in the mechanics overall. I think EA hyped it up more than BW did, but then again I didn't see/read everything about the game in the last few years, so may have missed some of the "own horn tooting."

And there's the problem with games like this. People want the game to be what they want, not what the devs are actually making. With SWTOR, it the ones who wanted KOTOR 3, even though it was clear this was not, it was the ones who wanted SWG 2.0, even though it was clear that this would not be it, it was those who wanted amazing PvP and Space Battles, even though it was clear that those were not the primary focus of the game.

Any discussion on these boards that reaches 100+ posts will have secondary discussions involving the main over-arching discussion. The GW2 discussion was born from people mentioning GW2 having a huge impact on subscriber numbers and thus we started to discuss the real impact GW2 will have due to suffering "hype" trouble like SWTOR did and the expectations versus reality caused by "hype".

AtlanTES Online is going to disappoint a lot of people.. first off, not being anything like the Elder Scrolls gameplay, secondly it retcons their own timelines and lore. Third it's a GW2 clone that is coming out after GW2 will be established, and last, it's on the freakin' Hero Engine.

The absolute worst part about this game, is the shoddy quality of its engine.

Some people might say "Oh Bioware got an alpha version this isn't the real potential of the hero engine!"

But Zenimax licensed the Hero Engine back in 2007 too. That means they have an engine that was just as unfinished as what Bioware got.

I'll wait and see, I mean at least it's copying a good game.. the features are nice.. but I'm hesitant to be excited for it because of the retcons, Engine, and the fact that while I love Bethesda to death.. their games are SWARMED in Bugs. Hell in the single player games the bugs are almost charming sometimes.. but that's not going to fly for an MMO. Not to mention, the best part of Bethesda games isn't going to be there.... mods.

Unfortunately I can only see them scaling back their staff similar to how that other big MMO company did once their numbers started to slide by large amounts. Its smart business.

In a way its a good thing to make them more profitable over a long term projection.
